BIRTHDAY CARD FOR A FRIEND

Saturday evening we attended an informal birthday party for one of our best friends.  His daughter arranged for a few of us to come to her home.  We had so much fun sharing stories and laughing about memories that some of us have shared.  Since this was for a "guy" I didn't want something that was frilly or flowery.  I used a die from PapertreyInk and then added a yellow circle for the sun.  The "happy" die cut and the birthday stamp are from Hero Arts "Happy Stamp & Cut" set.

LILLIES OF THE VALLEY

These four Memory Box dies have really been fun to work with.  It takes a little time putting all the little flowers on but the result is so worth it.    This time I added a little embossed border using a Cuttlebug folder.

STAMPIN' UP! - Painted Petals

This is alot like a card I posted a few days ago but for this one I used some Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!  The dp is white with a design on it that really pops when you use a sponge or dabber to ink it up.  Use a clean cloth and wipe - the ink removes from the design.  Unfortunately the paper was only available during the Sale-A-Bration.  For this card I used Perfect Plum and Wild Wasabi.

After I posted my card last Tuesday, I kind of slipped up on posting anything for the rest of the week.  Wednesday eight of us from my high school class met to begin planning for our 50th Class Reunion (no, I don't feel that old).  Since I volunteered to make the invitations, I got busy right away and started cutting card stock and doing the insert with all the details.  When I get one totally finished I will post a copy for you to see.  We graduated from a small school so I only need to make about 50 invitations.

Your comments are always welcome and appreciated.  Thank you for coming by!

CASING MY FRIEND

The wife of one of our friends will be remembered at her funeral tomorrow so I made this card for the family.  It is totally cased - embossing folder and all - from a card that Lynette has on her blog today.  When I saw hers, I knew it would be a good card for our friend.  My layout is just slightly different than hers.  Thank you, Lynette, for making it so easy for me to get this card made.

STAMPIN' UP! - Painted Petals

My picture is a little "off" today........kinda like my head.  Allergy season has hit.  I love this Stampin' Up! Painted Petals set.  I used Pacific Point (ink, cardstock, dp and Candy Dots) and Wild Wasabi ink.

I hope this card can help you along with an idea of your own.   What do you think?  Thanks for stopping by today!

THREE PTI MIGHTY BLOOM CARDS

Yesterday I didn't have a lot of time so I made these three easy cards using the Papertrey Ink  Mighty Bloom die.  The "blossom" is made up of Stampin' Up! Coastal Cabana dp pieces from one sheet.  I used the die twice so I could use some of both designs.  Part were used on this card and.............

and then the rest of the pieces were used on this card to give just a reverse color arrangement.

Since the Mighty Bloom die cuts a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of the designer paper, I had this piece and another one left over from the two cards above.  I simply placed the dp on a Coastal Cabana card base.

Three different looks with the same die.  Thanks for stopping by!

STAMPIN' UP! - Sheltering Tree

This was my first attempt to make a card using the Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree stamp set.  After I stamped the bike, I wasn't happy with "red" wheels.  Not real good planning on my part.

It is hard to tell from the picture but using a sponge I lightly pounded Baja Breeze ink over the entire design down to the grass and then did the same thing using Wild Wasabi ink around the rest of the grass area.

This was my second attempt.  I like the bike better.  I notice it looked like the leaves were a stamped further on the right side so I thought of the wind blowing and stamped the swing to appear as it was blowing in the wind.

I made four cards using this design.  One more is like the second card shown here.  The fourth one will be posted later because I have one more thing to add to it before showing it and the stamp hasn't arived yet.  So stay tuned.

WAITING FOR THE SENTIMENT

I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the lattice work behind the Memory Box die.  When I need a birthday, thinking of you or even a sympathy card, I'll add a vertical sentiment along the side.

I hope to be able to keep up with getting cards posted but if I don't here's probably why............The grandchildren's scheduled athletic and music activities have begun and I hope they don't completely exhaust this Grandma!   We have six grandchildren and they are all involved in activities.  Saturday I went to a soccer game.  Yesterday was a singles and doubles tennis match.  Thursday evening is a double-header softball game.  Saturday will be an honor band concert.  And the season has just begun.  My husband keeps one of those large paper calendar sheets to keep us on track of where we are supposed to be and when.  June has my head spinning.  He makes it to more than I do once the weather gets too hot for me.

WITH SYMPATHY

The arrangement of the Memory Box dies came from a card I saw on Pinterest but the rest of the card is made in a different arrangement.  I mounted the piece on SU Ballet Blue cardstock and then onto the Papertrey Ink white card stock.  The sentiment is from an Elizabeth Craft Designs die.

SPONGING BACKGROUNDS

I used the basic idea and colors that I saw on another card, but mine looks totally different.  I sponged SU Ballet Blue, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasbi on a piece of white card stock.  By masking off various areas I ended up with something that almost looks like a blue sky, maybe a mountain and the grassy field below.....if you use your imagination.

I trimmed the piece for a top fold vertical card which is mounted on a piece of black card stock.  I added the Penny Black die cut of the bird on a branch and stamped the sentiment.

I did a second piece using the same colors but for a top fold horizonal card.  You don't end up with two sponged areas that are just alike.

This picture is strange.  There is no blue below the black mat so I'm not sure why it looks that way............I even double checked the actual card but decided not to take another picture since I'm already late getting this posted.

I love the black silhouette against the sponged areas.  What do you think?

NEW SPELLBINDERS DIE - Contemporary Diamonds

Our Yahoo group had a Navy and Yellow color swap in March.  I had just purchased this new Spellbinders die and thought it would be fun to use it for he swap.  It could be used for multiple color combinations.  Using the leftover parts I was able to do the card below.

For this color combinaton, I like the first one better.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEORGIA!

My friend, Georgia, is hopefully celebrating her birthday today and I hope she received this card on time.  The die cut is from Penny Black.  I cut it out using a backing of "Stick It" adhesive which made it very easy to adhere to the sponged background I had created.  I then trimmed the background from the sides and mounted it onto another piece of white card stock.  This piece was then added to the from of a white card base.

I really liked this one so I made a couple more cards using the same die:

STAMPIN' UP! - Simply Soft

Using one of the stamps from the SU Simply Soft set, I colored the stamp with two of the markers.  I think I used Wild Wasabi and Calypso Coral for the outlined portion.  I used Crisp Cantelope for step two on the petals of the flowers.

My friend, Kris, had a birthday on March 23.  I didn't have a card made in time that I wanted to send her but this is the one she received a couple of days late.

Thank you for coming by today!

EASTER CHICK

This is not the result I was hoping for but I'm showing it to you anyway.  It is "busier" that I would have liked.  I wish I would have mounted the layers onto a white card although it wouldn't have shown off the large white die cut as well.  The stamp is one of several that I have from Serendipity.  The Easter designs that I have from them are so cute.  I colored with SU markers and Copic markers.

This is the  video  I used to make this card using more retired dsp. After I finished, I was a little dissatisfied with the white background...
