MEMORY BOX - Small Alder Tree

I love this little tree!!!  Today I am showing two more versions using the same dp and the Memory Box Small Alder Tree.  For this one I added birds in the tree and a squirrel.  It seemed like a little too much open space so I added the tiny "Happy Birthday".

This card used the same colors again but for some reason the picture makes the coloring look a little washed out.  (Different lighting maybe.)  I sponged light blue ink into the background before adding the die cuts.  I added a second squirrel to this one and included a couple of acorns for them.

There are so many dies out there and they really are fun to work with.  The scenes you can create are endless.  My collection of dies has grown and I need to start making better use of them.  I have more to show you next week.

Can you believe tomorrow is October 1st????  The holidays will soon be upon us.  Thank you for coming by today!

LITTLE SPRING TREE

OK, I know I have my seasons a little confused here, but I just had a lot of fun putting this card together.

The pretty dp used behind the panel with the scene is from a Stampin' UP! pack of designer papers.

DIes used:
Clouds - Papertrey Ink
Small Alder Tree and Baby Kittens - Memory Box
Fence - Impression Obsession
Grass - Martha Stewart Punch
Flowers - An old punch

CASING MY FRIEND, KRIS

Recently my friend, Kris, posted a card like this on our Yahoo Group.  I actually had the same tree and wanted the Cardinal die set from Impression Obsession because I have several dies that they would work so well with.  I just had to CASE her card.

I used an oval die to cut the window in the white layer and simply added it to the black card base.  The white tree from Simon Says Stamps.  The tree was cut and added to the top of the card.  I added an extra Cardinal to my card.

For this card I decided to cut down the white layer and matted it with black before adding it to the white card base.  With the black card base I will add a white piece of card stock inside to stamp a sentiment or write a message.  By using the white card base, I don't need to do that and still have the same amount of layers.

There is actually enough room at the bottom of the front to add a sentiment with a small font, but I may choose to leave mine the way they are now.  I actually made two of each style.

I don't make enough cards to do craft shows but one of my daughters is quite crafty and is going to have a table at a craft show or two.  I told her I would pay a portion of the table rent if she would have a basket of my cards and she agreed.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us.

MAGENTA STAMP - Country Landscape

When my husband worked for the town, he made friends with contractors who would come into town for various projects.  One of those friends passed away last week and my husband was going to the visitation so I made him this sympathy card to use for the memorial money he was giving the family.   The stamp I used is one I purchased in Des Moines last week for the exact purpose of using it for sympathy cards.  I did this one very quickly.  I love this stamp.  The sentiment on the front and the one used inside is from a My Sentiments Exactly stamp set I had purchased from Hobby Lobby.

IMPRESSION OBSESSION - Caring Thoughts

A week ago when I was in my favorite stamp store, I saw a card made with this stamp and it was beautiful.  I normally make A2 size cards (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") but the sample I saw was larger so I had to scale down what I did with the design.

After I colored the images, I realized that the pink was a really good match for some note cards that I had purchased years ago.  The note cards made finishing this project quick and easy.

I didn't mat this image completely because I had a scrap of black card stock and decided to use it.  Once again, the color I used for the flowers closely matched the color of the lavendar note cards.  This was a perfect chance to use up some supplies that had been in my "stash" way too long.

The picture may not show it,very well, but I used a glue pen on the edges of the butterfly wings and then sprinkled clear glitter on them.

I stamped and colored several pieces and I know I'll be using this stamp again and again.  Thank you so much for coming back today after my being gone all last week.

A LITTLE UPDATE

I'm sorry there is still no new card to show you.  Monday I went to Des Moines and got together with four of the ladies from our Yahoo Group.  We we were so sorry that Lynette was unable to join us.  Normally we only get together once a year so this was a real treat.

The rest of the week was spent with family appointments and getting items ready to take to a Garage Sale for Stamps and Scrapbook items.  I spent a lot of time marking things down from previous sales and pulling out additional items to take.  Weather has not been good here in Iowa this week and due to the high volume of rain we are experiencing flash flooding in our county.  The city where I would take my items is going to have major flooding.  Every route I would take is going to have a lot of water around and possibly over some roads so I'm staying home.  I've had a lot of success at these sales so I'm really disappointed but would much prefer to stay safe.  Things will be stacked and ready for the next one in the Spring.

Since I won't be going to the stamp sale, I hope to be making some new cards for you to see next week.

PENNY BLACK - Poppy Gems

A friend of ours needed an anniversary card.  I had this card already made except for the sentiment which I added to the front.  I love the scripture of 1 Corinthians 13:13.  The verse is from My Sentiments Exactly!.

ELIZABETH CRAFTS - Garden Notes Cosmos

The delicate white die cut is from Memory Box and provides a great background for the Cosmos flowers.  I had seen a card very much like this in Des Moines and had them order the flower die set for me.  The flowers were cut from some lavender card stock scraps.  To add a little dimension, I used a VersaMark marker to add the darker centers and then added some yellow Stickles to the center.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.

I made this card to give to my mother for her birthday.  Thank you so much for stopping by today!

DIE-NAMICS & MEMORY BOX

I saw a card on Pinterest a long time ago and always had the intention of making this card.  I ran across the dies a few days ago and made this last week.  The branch is from Memory Box and the birds are from a Die-Namics die set.  The papers are from Core'dinations sample strips that I acquired somewhere.  I added a little dot from a black pen for the eyes.  It's a perfect design from Stampassions to use with that sentiment that I have had for a long time.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

PENNY BLACK - Beneath the Birches

I had just received this set in an order and decided to put this card together for a card swap.
Before sponging the sky, I cut a Post-It circle to mask an area for the sun.   Using the sponge I swirled Stampin' Up! Not Quite Navy ink all over a potion of the card front.  SU Daffodil Delight ink was then sponged around in the area for the sun.  The white landscape piece was cut using a die from an Obsession Impression die set.

The deer and birch trees are from the Penny Black die set.  I sponged SU Soft Suede ink lightly on the trees.  By adding more layers of the Soft Suede ink on the deer I was able to get a nice solid color.  When I was finished adding the pieces to the card, I realized I had planned on adding Ice Stickles to the top edge of the landscape so that was added as the last step.  I also put a dot of the Stickles on the tip of my finger and then dabbed some of it around on the white portion.  Sadly that doesn't show up on the picture.

With a couple of hunters in the family, I have no doubt I'll be making addition cards for them with this set.

MEMORY BOX DIES

The Memory Box "Fresh Pine Landscape" die and the Impression Obsession landscape die helped me create this winter scene.  The first thing I did was to cut the rounded hill.  Then I cut two pieces with the pine tree die.   The middle section of this design is one cut of the lower hill with the trees on it.  I cut trees off of the second piece and applied them to various places on the back hill and one on the very front of the card.  I had some extra deer in the folder of the MB "Deer Trio" and added three of them.

I have a son-in-law and the husband of a niece who are both hunters so I'll probably hold this card for one of them.

MEMORY BOX - "Graceful Branch Oval" #2

After cutting the design using white card stock and using it on a piece of Yupo paper, I realized that I had another piece of Yupo paper that I had done with alcohol ink colors perfect for Halloween.  I cut another piece with the branch die but used black card stock.  I also went to my totel with Halloween designs and found two bats that had already been cut from last year.

I like it!!!  Do you?  Thank you for visiting my blog today!

MEMORY BOX - "Graceful Branch Oval" #1

On July 28, my friend Lynette posted a card using this die.  I didn't have it at the time but the ladies on our group tend to "enable" each other.  Since I found it at a sale price, I decided I could have some fun with it.  The first card I made used one of the pieces I had made with alcohol ink and Yupo paper.

The die cuts the entire piece including the frame.  I added the birds using the "Resting BIrds" die from Memory Box.  I have a different take on the design which I will post tomorrow.

I always love to read comments from those of you who stop by so I hope you will tell me what you think.  Thank you for visiting my blog today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIE CUT

These cards are another result of time with my friends in Des Moines last June.  Kris gave all of us the chance to cut out pieces with her die.  I finally dug out these two "sentiment" pieces from the card parts that I had brought home.

I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend and stop back again next Tuesday.  Thank you for coming by today!

4 NOTE CARDS

I saw three note cards at the craft store where our group gathered in Des Moines.  I loved the designs to be used as silhouettes on the various colors of dp.  I purchased the three that they had.

There is actually a fourth die but the store didn't have that one.  The first three cards shown below are using dies from Joy! Crafts (www.joycrafts.nl). It would be nice to have the complete set but looked through my hoard of dies and found the one that I used on the fourth card. I think it went nicely with the other designs.

All of the background papers are from the abundant supply of paper pads that I have.

Poppy Stamps - Meadow Leaf

A nice set of four

I think these would make a nice set to give as a gift.  Thank you for coming by today!

One of the cards made on  this  vi.deo used this stamp from the Flowing Flowers set.  This isn't a two-step design and I wasn't sure...
