FIRST COMMUNION CARD #3

This card was definitely inspired by Pinterest and is pretty much the way I saw it on that website other than the color I used for the ribbon.....pink instead of white.  The die cut cross is different as well but the basic design of the card is the same.  I wanted something very special for our card and I was well pleased with this one.

Sunday will be a very special day for Taryn and the other children in her class.  I remember that when her brother Tucker made his First Communion, his class performed a special song that was so nice.  I can't wait until Sunday!

Thank you for coming by again today!

FIRST COMMUNION CARD #2

The card my Mother-in-Law is giving Taryn was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest.  I changed the color of the mat and cross, and I also changed the design below the cross by punching the edge with a Martha Stewart design (Wild Flowers Edger) that is so delicate.  The cross from Stampin' Up! "Cross of Hope" set was stamped on white card stock with Wisteria Wonder but the color was pretty light.  Because I had used the MISTI to stamp the design,  I was able to re-ink the stamp and stamp it several times until I got the depth of the color that I wanted.  (LOVE my MISITI.!!!)  I then cut it out.  Not sure why I didn't just stamp it on the white piece to begin with.

One more card tomorrow that we will give Taryn.  Thank you for stopping by today!

FIRST COMMUNION CARD #1

Our youngest granddaughter, Taryn, is making her First Communion this coming Sunday.  I made three cards for her - one for each of the Great-Grandmothers and one for us to give her.  This one is the one my mother is giving her.

The card is simple.  The cross consists of three dies from the Spellbinders "Crosses Two" set.  Tomorrow's post will show the card that my Mother-In-Law will be giving to Taryn.

Thank you for stopping by today!

POPPY STAMP DIE - Boddington Tree Ribbon

My brother had a birthday this past Saturday and this is the card I made for him.  It is similar to the one I sent to my sister earlier this month. You may have seen it - it had a cluster of flowers instead of the trees.  I cut out the design with the white card stock but then colored the trees with Copic markers.  I did the same with the Happy Birthday.  Simple but good for a guy.

Thanks for coming by today!  I have three cards that I will be scheduling for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday............so be sure to come back!

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!

This is by far my favorite of the Easter cards I have made.

I used the cross from the Stampin' Up! set Blessed by God and the "rays" from the SU Kinda Eclectic set.  The sentiment is from My Sentiments Exactly.  Inks used were SU Crisp Cantelope, SU So Saffron and VersaFine Onyx Black.  The polka dp is from an SU paper pad.

I made 22 of this design to send to the regular senior citizens and family members that we remember on the holidays.

Thank you so much for coming by today!

TARYN'S EASTER CARD

Our youngest granddaughter LOVES to make cards and has such a good time with all of my supplies.  She uses the Cuttlebug like a pro and even taught her older sister how to use it when she was her on a previous visit.

I had just recieved the Lawn Fawn Chirpy Chirp Chirp stamps and hadn't even had a chance to use them yet so I told her she was very privileged.  (There are coordinating dies for the stamps but were out of stock at the time.)  Taryn chose her papers and deisgned the card herself.......she definitely has her own ideas!  The sun is from a second Lawn Fawn set that I had just received and the grass is from the discarded portion of a Martha Stewart grass punch.  I think she did a really great job organizing her card.

Regular markers can leave streaks when coloring so I let her use a Yellow Copic marker to color the chicks.  She used Stampin' Up! makers for the other coloring for the images on the front of the card and then I cut them out for her.  (I'll be glad when I can get the dies to match.

Of course she wants to decorate the inside of the card too so she used a Stampin' Up! "Everybunny" stamp set for those images.  And since she decided she really liked the Copic markers she asked if she could use them to color these images.  She is definitely a fan of them and did a nice job coloring with them.

I had to laugh when at one point she asked what was going to happen with all of my things when I didn't want them anymore.  She wants them.  I told her that if she was still interested in them, she could definitely have them.  I really do hope that at least a couple of the grandchidlren decide that card making is something they can do all of their lives.

Her brother, Tucker, was here as well and had hoped to make a card but we ran out of time.  We had a great time making cut-out Easter cookies, chocolate chip cookies and playing Boggle.  Of course kids being kids they also played a lot of computer games on the computers and tablets.

Thank you for coming by today!!!

RUBBERNECKER Stamp

I love these Rubbernecker two-step stamps and they are great for watercoloring.  Although these aren't meant to be lined up perfectly, I had these too far off for my liking.  I had stamped the outline iwth the black and then stamped after inking the solid portion with orange ink.  When they didn't line up as well as I had hoped, I took a watercolor brush and moved the ink slightly which took on a yellow shade.  I like the result.

I made a second card using the same design, different mat and sentiment.
THANK YOU FOR COMING BY!

EASTER CARD - Day 11

Today's card was made with the Stampin' Up! design "Blessed Easter".  I think tulips are such a pretty flower.  It's just sad that when they bloom it tends to be windy and the blooms don't last very long.  On a card I love to color them in bold colors - red and yellow are my favorite to use.

Thank you for stopping by today!

EASTER CARDS - Day 10

The only change here is the color of the mat.  Last week I posted cards like this - some with pink mats and some with lavender mats.  Since I was making these for the grandchildren, I decided that Tucker might rather have this color than pink or lavender.

I had a second green mat and some extra pieces so I put one last card together using these pieces.  Tomorrow I'll have an Easter card with a different design.  Hope you'll come back again.

PP287 - A Clean & Simple Challenge

Yesterday I made this card to send to my friend, Sheri for one of our card swaps.  Our challenge was to make a card using purple and another color.  I wanted to use flowers since we are all pretty much tired of Winter and looking forward to Spring.  After I had it made, I discovered that The Paper Players challenge this time is for a clean and simple card.  I think this one fits.

The tulips are from a Penny Black stamp set "flower gala" and were colored with Copic markers.

Check out all of the great cards on The Paper Players challenge.  Thank you so much for stopping by!

EASTER CARDS - Day 9

Card #1

I love the bunnies from this set.  I was going to leave some of them white but since I was placing them on the white doilies, that didn't work well.  Maybe I can find a new format to make next year and leave some of them white.  Of course, most of us like chocolate bunnies for Easter.  I think this bunny is made of "dark chocolate".

Card #2 (my favorite)

These bunnies appear to be "milk chocolate".  I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I made with these stamps and dies.  Since there are 6 cards, I have a feeling our grandchildren will be receiving these.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

EASTER CARDS - Day 8

Card #1

Lawn Fawn "Eggstra Special Easter" stamps and dies.

I forgot to mention yesterday that the doilies I'm using on these cards are from Wilton.  The package had 30 doilies and make a nice background for these designs.

Card #2

The same idea but a little different arrangement.  Tomorrow Card #2 is my favorite of the 6 using this set of stamps and dies.   Thank you so much for stopping by today!

EASTER CARDS - Day 7

Card #1

If you've never used stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn, these two cards are made using one of their Easter designs.  The set has 9 dies and 15 stamps. Lawn Fawn has a lot of different designs and I am able to get many of them for you if you are interested.  The stamps are clear and the dies cut great!  They are also very reasonably priced!!!

I lined up strips of paper in my MISTI and stamped all of the designs at one time.  I did this on several strips.  By spacing them on the strips, I was also able cut all of the designs at one time on each piece of card stock.

Card #2

Another arrangement using the basket as the main design.  The eggs in the basket are all plain but there is a tiny separate stamp to add the smiling faces wherever you choose.  All of the coloring was done with my wonderful Copic markers.

Tomorrow and Friday there will be two more cards each day with other designs from the set so I hope you will come back again then to check them out.

Your comments are always welcome and very much appreciated!

TWO CARDS TODAY

Yesterday slipped by me without getting something posted.  I had two granddaughters here Sunday into Monday morning.  So I had to get them off to school but school started two hours late due to dense fog.  Then it was only a short time until I had to get ready to pick up my husband and two daughters from the airport.  They had gone to Las Vegas to watch former high school baseball players play in a 50+ tournament.

These young men had been a team that had been part of winning 20 State High School Baseball tournaments.  Coming from a town of a little less than 600 citizens that is quite an accomplishment.  They had not played in any games for two years and practiced a few times before going to Las Vegas.  Coming from Iowa the time for playing baseball iss much shorter than those who come from the warmer states.  They played against teams that play every weekend and some over 100 games a year!  I can't even express the pride that we feel in "our" team. They still have the "fire in their belly".  They fought through their body pains and WON THE TOURNAMENT!!!  I think they shocked a lot of people out there.  I just had to brag about the great young men who came out of our small community.

Now onto a couple of cards.............

This is a very simple card.  I have had these note cards from Hero Arts for a very long time.  I love the color and thought it would make a pretty card for Spring (which is just around the corner).  The die cut is a gorgeous Memory Box die "Fairhaven Oval Frame".  The open area could be left as is but a small sentiment could also be added.

This is a card I made for a card swap.  The floral design is a new one from Penny Black.  There is a stamp and a coordinating die (Playful stamp 30-347 and Playful II die 51-205).  "Happy Birthday" is from Whimsy Stamps.  The embossed border is from Stampin' Up.

I have  Easter cards to make yet for my grandchildren so will hopefully have one to post tomorrow.  Thank you for stopping by today!!!

EASTER CARDS - Day 6

Yesterday I discovered that I had 6 of these cute die cuts left over from last year.  I decided to add them to some small note cards that I had and gave them to the independent living center for the residents in case they wanted to send a card to a loved one.  There were 2 of each color and then I added 6 other very simple cards that I had made.

The 97 cards that my friend and I made have also been delivered for staff members to hand out at the nursing home and independent living center.

Last night my husband and out two daughters flew to Las Vegas to watch former high school baseball players play in a 50+ tournament.  They had played and helped win our school 20 state high school baseball tournaments.  It is fun for them to reunite and play together again.  This is their third trip to Vegas doing this but are saying it is their last.....too many aches and pains afterward.  Anyway my husband and our daughters thoroughly enjoy this time...........and I enjoy this time doing whatever I please.  They'll be home Monday about Noon so I'd better get busy and do something fun!

Thanks for coming by today!  I hope you have a great weekend!

BIRTHDAY BALLOONS

Our Granddaughter, Abby, is a 6th grader.  She was aware of the project that a friend of mine and I have been working on making cards for Senior Citizens in a nursing home and an independent living center.  She also knew that I had given some card kits to a young lady from church to make up and wondered if she could do some too.

One day she was staying at our house so I got her started.  I brought out all kinds of card stock and scraps of designer papers, a set of Penny Black balloon dies and my Cuttlebug.  While I was doing other things around the house I told her to just go ahead and cut a bunch of balloons and then we cut strips of coordinating papers to use on the bottom of the cards.

Stampin' and Scrapin' in GJ had a card with this layout and I thought it would be a perfect one for one of my helpers to make..  Abby made 12 cards - all the others are similar to this.  I hope that in some small way it is making an impression on her that will last and that she will continue to want to do other volunteer type service as she grows up.

Thanks for stopping by today!

EASTER CARDS - Day 5

I had hoped to be able to post these cards yesterday.  My friend and I had the goal of completing 97 Easter cards for the Independent Living Center and the Nursing Home that we had done holiday cards for previously.  We were going along so well and then i got a call that my mother needed to be taken to the emergency room.  Thankfully the "only thing" that was determined was that she had acute bronchitis.  By the time I got home I was just too tired to deal with my blog.

These two cards are a sample of the 44 we made for the Independent Living Center.  Some were also done with pinks and lavenders which are great colors for tulips.

The 53 cards that we made for the Nursing Home are like the pink one that was posted on March 1st.  We did those in a wide variety of small polka dots and checks.

We managed to get all but about 15 cards done and I finished them this morning.  Be sure to come back tomorrow.  I will be posting a picture of some cards our granddaughter made.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister

This is a very simple card.  I usually make something a little more involved for my sister but I had this new die and wanted to use it.  The "Petal Ribbon" die is from Memory Box.  I cut with white card stock and then used a Copic marker to color the flowers.  "Happy Birthday" was also cut with white card stock and then colored.......it is from "Whimsy Stamps".

Since I didn't get this scheduled earlier, in the meantime I happened to talk to my sister on the phone this morning and wished her a Happy Birthday.  She asked if she was supposed to re-use the card because I had forgotten to sign it.  I laughed and told her to feel free to do that.  I was in such a hurry to get it in the mail (from Iowa to Florida) that I forgot to sign it.

Thanks for coming by!

MORE WINNIE THE POOH

When I made the Winnie the Pooh card  last week, I decided I'd just go ahead and use up the rest of the rub-on stickers in the package.

I really like this one done on the polka dot dp.  I'll save this one for my mother to use for one of the great-grandchildren.  Thank you for coming by today!

EASTER CARDS - Day 4

The first step for this card was to choose watercolor card stock and spritz it with water.  I used Color Burst powders for the color and used a brush to move the colors slightly.  The bunny is from Impression Obsession, the clouds from Papertreyink and the cute little flowers are from Paper Smooches.  I did sponge a very light pink on the clouds so they would stand out against the white background.

Thank you for stopping by today!

EASTER CARDS - Day 3

Another card using two dies.  "Happy Easter" (Easter Blessing - 51-217) and the flowers (Playful II 51-205) are from Penny Black.  I think I would prefer to use this design on more typical Easter colors.  The blue just doesn't say "Easter" to me.

I have an account with Penny Black and order from them now and then.  If you ever ee anything on my blog that comes from Penny Black and would like me to order it for you, just let me know.  Thank you for stopping by!

EASTER CARDS - DAY 2

I have a lot of polka dot papers and decided this would be a fun way to use them.  The bunny die used to cut the "window" on the white card stock is from Impression Obsession. The "Easter Blessings" stamp is from Darcies.

I discovered that I didn't have any sentiments for inside that matched the Easter Blessings and not sure what I am going to use inside.

After making the first card I decided to flip the design and discovered that I did have two stamps that would work......both from Darcie's.  The one inside says "Hope You Have a Hoppy Easter".  I am going to be making this one in several colors for our grandchildren. The sentiment on the front is perfect for them.

Thank you for stopping by today!
