SAND AND SEA DSP

I am desperately trying to use up some of the retired papers in my stash!  I liked the soft colors and some of the paper in this collection but it is proving to be more paper than I really wanted for these designs.

I matted a piece of the dsp with white and added it to the Blushing Bride card base.  I then embossed a strip of white card stock with the coordinating folder and matted it with Blushing Bride.  In my supplies I had a package of stickers with a few remaining sea shells so this was a perfect chance to use up some of those too.  Not one of the cards that I am most proud of but it works.

USING CIRCLES

I like this layout for using circles and coordinating designer papers.  The only thing I would change on this card is the spacing of the circles.......I would have "stretched" the layout a little bit more so there was not as much "white" at the bottom.

ANOTHER HYDRANGEA CARD

Super simple.  I had this dsp on my table after yesterday's card and I had a circle from another project also on my table.  I simply highlighted the one bouquet of flowers with the circle and called it quits.  When I go to use it, I will likely add a mini strip with a sentiment.

A SIMPLE CARD USING DSP

I missed posting a card for yesterday.  I had two friends come and we made the Halloween cards that will be distributed to three facilities.  I'll probably share those in a later post.

This card was very simple  I used paper from the Hydrangea Hill dsp package.  I matted it with the Rocco Rose card stock and placed it on a white card base.  The sentiment was stamped with the same color of ink.  A scalloped edge was added to the top and bottom of the sentiment strip and added with dimensionals.

SPECIAL CARD FOR A FRIEND

I believe I mentioned that I am sending a weekly card to a high school classmate who is now going through Stage 4 Cancer.  I saw a sample of this type of card and the directions from a lady I "met" in a group of Facebook.  It looks far more complicated than it is.  You can see a video of it  HERE.

The gold foil piece I used really worked great for this card since there is gold in the dsp.  It also worked perfect for the comforting sentiment that I chose to use this time.

4 CARDS USING UP BIRD BALLAD DSP

I didn't realize until I had glued the bird piece onto the front of the card that I would need to make my own envelope for it because it wouldn't quite fit in an A2 envelope.

SYMPATHY CARD

This card used another stamp set that has seen little use and will be used as a sympathy card.  The card I saw on Pinterest was what I used for the idea.  That card had more white area and a sentiment was stamped in that area.  I added the navy circle "frame" around the "window".  The white piece with the navy polka dots was added with dimensionals although the picture doesn't show that very well.

MAGNOLIA LANE DSP (I think)

This card was made quite a while ago but I am pretty sure the dsp is from the Magnolia Lane per pack.  I colored the flowers with blenders.  More dsp used!

THREE CARDS TODAY

I forgot to schedule something for yesterday but this was a simple card that I had intended to post.  Just add a little border to the upper and lower edges of some pretty dsp and add a butterfly.  How easy is that.

Recently I pulled out some supplies that I hadn't used for a very long time.  I'm not sure if I had ever used this set.  I pulled up Pinterest and found ideas.  This card uses Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Wild Wasabi.  I'm not a big "orange" person but I do like the way this one came together.  One more below.

Using the same colors and stamps, I changed to a horizontal top fold card and added the floral piece to an embossed background.  When I'm ready to use it, I may add a sentiment strip to the front.

THANK YOU CARD

Rarely my husband takes much interest in the cards I make, but he requested a thank you card.  Recently there was a celebration with the Norway Baseball Association and two young girls who are the granddaughters of a friend of ours helped him in the concession stand.  They were visiting here from out of state.  They had a lot of fun helping and my husband wanted to be able to send them a thank you card.  At their age, flowers and similar designs were a a bit too grown up for them but I hadn't yet used this cute set with the bird.  He seemed pleased with what I made......it was more than a soft grunt.  He smiled and wrote his own little note inside.  LOL  I hope it brought a smile to the girls' faces too.

FUN FOLD CARD

I watched a YouTube video by Cindy Brumbaugh and decided to make one using this fun fold.  It makes a pretty card to show off some beautiful designer series paper and stand on a shelf  Although there isn't a lot of room, there is room on the reverse side of the middle panel to write a brief note and sign by adding a white piece of card stock.

STAMPING BLUEBERRIES

I started with a white card base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2").  I cut a second piece of white measuring 5 1/4" x 4".  I added a piece of the dsp before adhering it to the card base with dimensionals.  The stamped image was cut with a die from Color and Contour.  This piece was also added with dimensionals.

USING SCRAPS OF BOTANICAL GARDENS DSP

A funny story about this one.  You may see something very much like this card on Pinterest.........only mine is upside down! The card base is 11" x 4 1/4".  I used the exact same order of papers on the card and yet when I did the original one, I had the card base upside down when I applied the strips of dsp.  There wasn't much I could do about it then unless I cut it off and applied it to a new card.  Why do that?  I think it can work this way too.   So when I made up the card kits for my friends and I to make, we did it just like this on purpose.

FLOWER SHOP & PETITE PETALS

Another card kit that I made up for my friends and I to make together.  I still had some of the dsp so I went searching on Pinterest for some ideas to uses at least part of it  When I found this card, I really liked that I could also use two sets of stamps and two punches that hadn't been used in a very long time.

MORE RETIRED DSP USED!

I believe this is a card that my friends and I made the last time we got together.  I had the kits made up but then when we got ready to do them, I couldn't remember for sure what I intended to do with those two strips of Just Jade card stock..........they weren't the same green as the card base.  We decided that both greens were in the dsp so this is what we came up with.  I had two different pieces cut for them to use with their own sentiment.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Bouquet of Love Cut & Emboss

This is such a beautiful hybrid cut & emboss folder!  I've had it for quite a while and I have no idea why I had never used it.  We needed an anniversary card for a couple who are celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniverary today.  I saw one like this on Facebook a few days ago and knew that I would finally pull out this item to use it.

The card I saw used navy so I used that idea as well.  I had similar, if not the same, punches to use for the gold leaves but added a little navy flower with a clear rhinestone.

Now that I have used it, I know I will be making many more cards with it for birthdays, Valentines, weddings and anniversaries.  This was so easy to make but with very pretty results.

SO EASY

The "Awash in Beauty" dsp is gorgeous!  There are two sheets that can be cut in half and then each strip cut to 4" x 5 1/4".  Instant card!  This is one of the pieces which I mounted on a Balmy Blue base.  The sentiment was stamped on a small scrap of white and then angle cut on the ends.  I also had a small piece of the blue card stock and added it behind the sentiment before adding the piece with foam squares.

MORE RETIRED DSP

I don't remember which package of designer paper this came from.  I made this card several weeks ago and had it scheduled for today.  I really liked this pattern.  I'm sure the idea came from Pinterest.

MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

In my efforts to use retired designer papers, I ran across this from the Come Sail Away with Me pack.  I also remembered that I had a stamp set Winds of Grace that had this light house.  Since I had several masculine cards that I needed to make, I made three of these.  The card base is Crumb Cake and the dark brown is from some other card stock that I have.

MORE BERRY DELIGHTFUL DSP

I used the "postage stamp" punch to cut out the pieces for each of these cards.  The pieces are spaced on a white piece of card stock and then mounted onto a piece of Pacific Point card stock before adding them to the white card bases.

STAMPIN' UP! - Angels of Peace

This is a very simple card.  The card base is Pool Party and the designer series paper is from one of the SU retired patterns.  I stamped the angel with Pool Party ink and mounted it on  a piece of Pool Party card stock.   I stamped the sentiment and punched it and made the frame for the sentiment image.

FALL LEAVES - 2 CARDS

This one is my favorite.  I used the Stampin' Up! 3D embossing folder for the leaves on the white layer.  The stamp was placed in my MISTI and inked up with Mossy Meadow ink.  I cleaned the stamp and then inked it up with Crushed Curry but it didn't show up very well so I added the Crushed Curry manually with a dabber.  I think the matting is Pistachio Pudding card stock but not for sure since the packaging is missing.

When I did this stamped leaf, inked it up with Crushed Curry and stamped.  I then inked it up again but using a dabber added some Merry Merlot ink around the tips of the stamp and in the white areas.  Before stamping it to the card stock, I misted it slightly to get some blending.  The dsp is from a 6x6 "Plaid Tidings" pack.

Thank you for coming by today!  I hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.

FLOWERING FIELDS Stamp Set

I have had the Flowering Fields stamp set for a long time and I'm not sure it had been used more than once.  I pulled it off the shelf with a determination to put ink to it.  Of course, I needed some inspiration so turned to Pinterest.

The end result was pleasing but in true fashion I had a smudge from my finger on the upper corner of that first panel.  In my hoarded supplies, I had a package that still had two of these cute little butterflies from "Little B".  One was blue but this yellow one fit perfectly over the smudge.  I'll have to make a card now with the colors that will coordinate with that one last blue butterfly so I can say "another item GONE".

Two more "ignored" items used.  Thank you for coming by today!

CASING BRENDA QUINTANA

I have been concentrating on using retired items and also spent some time recently making some Christmas cards.  I saw a video on YouTube.  Brenda made a card like this.  I tweaked it a little using some different supplies.  She had used gold glitter strips but I had scraps of the silver already so I used them.  I think she did her bow differently and she had a different "Merry".  I don't have the link handy, but if you go to YouTube and search her name, all of her videos should come up.

A great way to use up sheets of your designer series papers is to do One Sheet Wonder patterns.  This one was a little different because you...
