STAMPIN' UP! - Hello Doily

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday!  I didn't get to see my mother yesterday but she had preferred that I go see her today and enjoy the Mother's Day Brunch they are having where she lives.  I'm leaving shortly to run errands but wanted to get this posted before I leave.  I did get to see both of our daughters though.

Last week I got out the Stampin' Up! Hello Doily and decided to make some cards using it.  I started by cutting a piece of white card stock to 4" x 5 1/4" and then stamped the design with VersaMark and heat embossed it with Opaque White powder.

The Summer Starfruit ink was added using a dabber - always starting at the center and working my way out each time giving the design a nice bright center.  I used the Summer Starfruit card stock with a Memory Box butterfly die and then finished by stamping the sentiment before adding it to the card base.

STAMPIN' UP! - Kinda Eclectic

This is similar to one on Pinterest.  I changed up the colors (black and SU Daffodil Delight) and instead of a tag with a sentiment, I stamped the sentiment on the white layer in the upper left corner.  This will be fun to do again in a variety of colors.  I didn't think I wanted this set but the more I saw cards being made with it I knew I could make good use of it.

Wishing you all a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all of you!  Hope you'll come back again next week.

UPDATED STAMPIN' UP! - Sheltering Tree

I didn't have anything new to post today so I decided to show you a card that I updated.  After posting this card a few days ago, I received the Stampin' Up! "Kinda Eclectic" stamp set.  I decided to add the yellow stamped design up in the corner to give the look of a sunny day.  I'd seen some other cards using that stamp as a sun so it wasn't an original idea but I really like the result.

I'll try to have something for you again tomorrow.......but thanks for coming today!

BUTTERFLIES IN FLIGHT

A few weeks ago I received this card from my friend, Harriet.  She knows how much I love butterflies.  A few days later I decided I would try to CASE it with some butterfly stamps that I have and used very similar colors -- inks from Stampin' Up!...................here is my "version" of her card...........

I'm not as pleased with my card because my butterflies were maybe a bit to big to do it, but it was fun anyway.  I had never done a raised "die cut word" like that before either so it was a new technique for me to try.

This got posted a little late in the day but once again I've been working on clearing out items for a Stamp Sale which will be May 15-16.  There just aren't enough hours in the day lately.

Thanks for coming by!

NOTE:  I thought I should clarify how the "happy" is done.  After the layer with the butterflies was stamped, I die cut the "happy" from that layer.  Then I cut two more from white card stock and adhered them all together on top of each other with Tombow Mono Liquid Glue.  The layered die cuts were then added back onto the card so it is popped.

STAMPIN' UP! STARS FOR THE GRADUATE

Our school district school colors are blue and gold so I used gold foil card stock for two of the stars.  The actual card does look better than in the picture, but.....

I then brought out some gold glitter paper and REALLY like this one!  The stars are a great way to make a very attractive card that is quick and easy!  And I have a stamp that goes with it perfectly for the inside:  "Graduate...As you follow your dreams.....Reach for the stars!"  I think I can safely say that this is probably going to be the card I make for most graduates in the future.

NOTE:  Yesterday I forgot to mention that I had a good sentiment for the inside of that one too:  "Hats Off to the Graduate".

Thanks for checking in again today!

MAY MEANS GRADUATION CARDS

I hope you all had a great weekend.  We tried out a new place to eat in the Amana Colonies (we live only 8 miles away).  Sunday was VERY busy.  My husband started his day by attending the first of three games at a tournament where one of our granddaugters was playing.  He couldn't stay for the rest because we needed to attend a graduation party which was a brunch and ended at Noon.  From the party we went directly to a dance recital where three of our grandchildren participated.  We really enjoy having the opportunity to enjoy so many activities for all six of the grandkids.

This year we have invitations for five graduation parties plus I am making cards for three others.  Three of the graduates will get a card like this made with the school colors - blue and gold.

Be sure to come back tomorrow.  I have two versions of another graduation card to post.

Thanks for stopping by!

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY CARDS

Yesterday I slipped up and didn't get a card posted so today I'm going to show you two.  The card below is one I made for a Pink and Black color card swap on a Yahoo Group.  I don't think the recipient has received the card yet since she lives in Canada.  I've been so busy getting a really big selection of items ready for a stamp sale and haven't actually made anything for several days so she may see this on my blog first.

The cardstock used was Stampin' Up! Pink Passion and Black and the butterflies were made with the two SU punches.   The border above and below the butterflies is from a Martha Stewart punch.

This card was simply made with left over pieces from the die cuts I made with the PapertreyInk Mighty Bloom die.  I hated to waste any of the leftover pieces.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope to have time to make something new for next week.

I like to make fancy fold cards for the grandchildren.  In September I made made a "Squeezebox card" after watching a video from R...
