PENNY BLACK "Snowy"

This year I really got a along of use out of the "Snowy" stamp.  He's just so cute!  I made one for each of the members in our group but  no two are the same.

Thanks for coming by today1

TWO CARDS TODAY

This card was supposed to be on my blog yesterday but I forgot to schedule it.  I used two gold foil die cuts.  The "Snowflake Ribbon" is from Poppy Stamps.  "Peace" is from Penny Black.   I had a narrow strip of the gold foil left over from a previous project and added it to the top edge of the card.  I that finished off the front just right.

Another card using Penny Black's "Snowy" stamp.  The oval design is from Memory Box.  It was added over a piece which was embossed with the Stampin' Up! embossing folder.

Thank you for coming by today!  Only 6 more days until Christmas!

PENNY BLACK - "Snowy" #1

I have had the "Snowy" stamp for a long time but when Penny Black came out with a die to match I had to have it.  I saw a card very similar to this on Pinterest and decided that I had to make it.  The "Merry Christmas" is also from Penny Black.

Thank you for stopping by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Hometown Greetings #2

I found this dp in my stash and decided to use it behind the SU die cut.  For this card, I left the die cut piece all white and didn't emboss the bottom portion of the design.  The "O Holy Night" is from Penny Black.  I added double sided adhesive paper to the front and back of the white card stock.  After die cutting the sentiment, I carefully removed the adhesive from the top of the die cut so that I could add glitter to it.  Then I carefully removed the adhesive from the back side and attached it to the card.

Thank you for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Hometown Greetings Die

After cutting the design, I colored the trees with a Copic marker.  I traced the church and house on gold foil card stock, cut them out and then placed the pieces behind the white buildings.  I used the Stampin' Up! embossing folder to only emboss the lower part of the die cut piece and added it to the SU Night of Navy card base.  The finishing touch was stamping the star with VersaMark and heat embossing with gold powder.

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY, ASHLYN!

Our granddaughter, Ashlyn, is celebrating her 18th birthday today.  Our grandchildren have grown up way too fast!  This is the card I made for her.  Since her birthday is at a "wintery" time of year, I thought the snowflake and mittens seemed very appropriate.

The snowflake is a die cut from Poppy Stamps.  The mittens were and border were stamped with Stampin' Up! stamps and ink.

MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS

Last year my friend, Lynette,  found a cute Recollections stamp set at a great price and made some cards with it.  I found it on line at Michael's and ordered it at that great sale price.  This is the card my friends and I made for the Care Center.......53 in all.  It was a simple card but hopefully that little snowman will bring some joy to the residents.

By the way, the card that I posted yesterday was the one that we made for the Independent Living Center where my mother lives.  We always send 44 cards there for them to use.

Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping and hope to finish up today.  Fortunately our daughters help do the shopping for the gifts that we give to our grandchildren so I don't have many to buy.

Thank you for coming by today.

PENNY BLACK - "adornment" stamp

The wreath was stamped with SU Garden Green ink.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  Very simple but it makes a very pretty card.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will come back again next week for more holiday cards.

CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS by Sue Wilson - Illuminated Angel

A few days ago I posted a card done with this die using navy and gold.  When I cut that piece I had also cut the design from the SU Marina Mist card stock.  This piece sat on my table for several days not knowing how to finish it.  It was cut down to 4" x 5 1/4" and added to the white card base.

Now what?  I didn't have any vertical stamps that worked well.  The sentiment was cut from a Penny Black die. Since the words were all separate once they were cut, I used them and angled them on the card to fill the space a little better.  The card is OK, but I really like the one I made earlier and posted.

SU - Hometown Greetings/Hearts Come Home (Part 2)

I really cannot take credit for this one because I did CASE it from Pinterest.  I used the Birch Trees embossing folder instead of the one they had used but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

Thanks for coming by!

STAMPIN' UP! - Hometown Greetings/Hearts Come Home

After Christmas last year I decided I really "needed" this stamp and die set  I am so glad that I gave into the temptation on this one.  It is such a great set and so fun to use!  I die cut the deer and trees before I stamped them.....it might have been better to stamp them first but they turned out OK.  The "glittery snow" die cut is from the Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles set.

Come back tomorrow for another card that I just love from this set.

PEACE

I had some note cards and envelopes from Hero Arts that had not been used in years.  The light blue cards have a white fleck to them that made me think a little of snow.  I added the Memory Box snow border die and the die cut Peace.  Very simple card but I like it.

Thanks for coming by........much more to come.

STAMPIN' UP! - HOMETOWN GREETINGS EDGELITS

I may have actually posted this card when I made it several months ago but thought I'd put it up here again.  I love this set of dies from Stampin' Up!  There is also a coordinating stamp set.

Thank you for coming by today!  Please stop back again next week for more Christmas ideas.

HAPPY 99TH BIRTHDAY!

My mother's only surviving sister is turning 99 today.  She is not quite 3 years older than my mother.

This pretty cover plate was cut with a die that one of my friends had in Des Moines this past June.  I cut two of them in gold.  Since it is still Fall, I thought I would use it on my Aunt's card.

Thank you for coming by today........back to Christmas cards tomorrow.

MADONNA AND CHILD

I had this die last year but hadn't decided how I was going to use it.  I believe this die cut is from Tutti but at the moment the package is not to be found on my messy table.

I added the die cut design to a navy oval and then to a white mat and again onto a navy oval.  The total piece was then attached to the card with foam dots.

Thank you for coming by!

PEACE

The coloring in the picture is a little off.  The die cut peace actually goes with the dark blue in the back ground much better than it appears here.  The background is from a piece of alcohol ink on Yupo paper that one of our granddaughters did when she was here.  The piece truly looked like she had just scribbled some ink on the paper and at the time I didn't see how it was going to work for anything.  Then when I looked at it again, it kind of reminded me of wind blown snow.  There is a second deer which doesn't show up with the white on white.

Thank you for stopping by today!

A STARRY NIGHT

This may be one of the Christmas cards I use for the deer hunters on the list.  I'm not really fond of the stars I used since they are too big for the proportions.

I've been very busy making Christmas cards and will be having a lot of them to share.

Thank you for checking out my post.............even though it is a little later in the day.

CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS (Sue Wilson) - Wise Men

The dies from Creative Expressions are just so pretty.  I saw this one in Des Moines in June and decided I would add it to my Christmas collection (even though I already have too many).

The design was cut from navy card stock and then I added the textured gold foil paper behind it and then the card was finished by added the piece to the navy card base.

Thank you for stopping by!

CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS (Sue WIlson) - Illuminated Angel

Today is actually Thanksgiving, but my Thanksgiving cards were posted earlier in the month.  I hope all of you are having a wonderful day.

I believe I used this die on a card last year but I wanted to experiment with it again.  I cut the design and then simply added it to a SU Night of Navy card base.  I don't think it needs much more.

Thanks for coming by!

PENNY BLACK - Snowy Family #3

I had colored this piece last winter but had not finished the card.  When I went to choose a mat for the design, I didn't have any card stock that was a good match for the color I had used.  Instead, I pulled out that Copic marker again and just edged the stamped image and the white mat to set it off.

Thank you for coming by today!

PENNY BLACK - Snowy Family #2

This is basically the same as yesterday but done in red.  I added glitter to the tassels and the cuffs.  Then I added glitter to give the look of snow under the snowmen.

PENNY BLACK - Snowy Family

During the time I haven't been posting as often, I have actually gotten a start on Christmas/Holiday cards.  I have loved this cute Snowy Family for a long time and decided to use it for some cards this year.  The design was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Using a glue pen I scribbled onto the tassels of their hats and then sprinkled clear glitter.  To bring the design out a little more, I outlined it with a light gray Copic marker.

Thank you for stopping by today!

A BIRTHDAY PRAYER

I had this colored sprig of flowers in my box of pieces.  There was a lot of white space so I decided to put the main sentiment on the front  Inside I stamped Happy Birthday.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

RUBBERNECKER FLOWERS

Returning to my goal to continue using some stamped pieces, I pulled this one out, added the little butterflies and then matted it and added it to the card front.  One more used!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S.  I've regained some motivation and have been playing with Christmas/Holiday stamps.  Next week I plan to have some of them to share.

BIRTHDAY FOR A LITTLE GIRL

A few months ago one of the ladies who helps makes holiday cards for the elderly gave me a print out of a card she had seen.  I have had that photocopy in my "parts box" ever since.  Friday I decided I was going to make one.  I hadn't been getting anything done with this sinus stuff and pledged to get something/ANYTHING done that day.

It is such a simple card but I think it is so cute!  I die cut the three circles because I didn't have punches the right size.  The "bow" was made by punching two hearts and then adding a sparkly gem over where the two overlap just a little.  Even at 96 years old my mother still sends birthday cards to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  One of her great granddaughters will get this card from her.

Thank you for stopping by today!

THANKSGIVING CARD #3

When I started making the cards we will send to our people on our personal mailing list I didn't cut all of the rectangles.  The next day I finished cutting what I needed but realized that I had cut them with a smaller rectangle.  I was able to work with them and added some different die cut leaves.  I really like how these turned out too.

I just realized when I posted this picture that the circle which was embossed with the wood folder doesn't show up here very well, but like yesterday's card, the leaves were added over it.

Thank you for coming by today!

THANKSGIVING CARD #2

This is the design we will be sending to some of the people on our personal mailing list   I saw the general idea on Pinterest.  The leaves were die cut from a piece of Yupo Paper that had been colored with alcohol inks.  I'll have another version of this card for you tomorrow.

Thanks for coming by today.

THANKSGIVING CARD #1

This is a very simple card that my friends and I made for the care center and independent living center.  We made all 97 of them the same this time.  The frame is from a Rubbernecker stamp.  The sentiment and leaves are from a Penny Black stamp set.

When we made this card, we all had a MISTI so I lined up each one with one of the stamps and we each had one color of ink. By working in an assembly line we are very efficient about getting the cards made.

Everything is ready to go for making the Christmas cards.....just need to set a date to get together.  We stepped our system a bit so that Halloween are done in September, Thanksgiving in October and Christmas cards in November.  No need to have a last minute rush that way.

Thanks for coming by today!

A SIMPLE REMAKE OF A CARD

When I was in Des Moines with a group of friends for our 2016 gathering, we made a cards using stickers from Penny Black.   Last week I found a sheet with one lonely sticker left on it and decided to make a simplified version of the original one.  It's obvious that the first card here is the revision.  I actually think I have full sheets of that set in my "stash" so eventually I need to get them out and use them.

A while ago we were sad to learn that the store in Valley Junction, West Des Moines had closed.  Now today we received more sad news.  For ten years we had stayed at a Sleep Inn when we gathered.  When I called to get some information, I was informed that they had closed and would eventually be opening with another chain and would not be giving us the generous discount that we had received in the past.  Plans for our gathering in 2019 are all up in the air now.

AUTUMN LEAVES

This card is "hot off the press".  I needed a birthday card and had been wanting to make use of some of the leaf designs that I have.  There are still some beautiful trees around even though the winds were causing the leaves to rain down yesterday.

I used the Stampin' Up! folder to emboss the Birch trees.  Using a Q-tip I added some Soft Suede ink to them to make them stand out.  The die cut leaves were already cut in the container with the Wonderfall SU stamp set.  They were then stamped with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I'm still not getting a lot of new cards made but hope to get busy with them again.  I spent some time finishing up a crocheted baby blanket that had been started since last winter, starting a new one (which I hope to complete much faster) and reading.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope to be back posting more regularly.

ANOTHER SYMPATHY CARD

With three deaths in the community, I made several of this card to give to the families.  I don't remember ever having three deaths in three days in our community before.

SENDING LOVE & SYMPATHY

We live in a very small community and have had three deaths, three days in a row.  There are funerals today, tomorrow and Friday.  One was the gentleman who rented my mother's farmland.  This is the card I made for my mother to send to the wife and long-time friend of my mother.

HALLOWEEN TREAT ENVELOPES

One of the ladies who helps make the 97 cards for each of the holidays, visited my mother the other day and gave her a little treat.  She told me about how it was made so I looked it up on YouTube.  It's so simple and will make a fun way to give a treat to some special trick-or-treaters.  The envelopes are made with the punch board and take less than 5 minutes to make each one.

I had a pad of some halloween papers that have been in my "stash" for too long so I made a bunch of these.  I had just gotten the dies from Frantic Stamper.  On the others I decoreated some of them with some leftover Hallmark Halloween stickers.  I'll stick a little Hershey candy bar in each one.

A fun little tid-bit.........it was 54 years ago that my husband proposed to me for the first time.  I was still in high school but we were evidently meant to be together.  Three years later he asked me again and we were married the next year.......50 years ago. My how time flies.

HALLOWEEN CARD

I certainly haven't been good about posting lately.  Besides coming off of a 6-day trip to South Dakota in August and another a 12-day trip including Canada in September, I have been busy trying to catch up and also very distracted.  I've had a hard time concentrating on making cards and not feeling very motivated.

My husband and I send holiday card to local 20 Senior Citizens who are in care centers.  I did manage to get 20 cards plus a few more of this one made.

Thanks for coming by today!

BOO! - HALLOWEEN CARD

A few days ago two friends came to my home and we had fun making Halloween cards.  The one shown today is the one that will be given to the staff to hand out where my mother lives in an independent living center.  We made 44 of these.

When I was with friends in Des Moines this past June, my friend Kris had us make card using this layout with small squares popped.  Instead of using four circles, I left the one open to just stamp Boo.  I've made several cards since using the layout.  I wish I had a little square punch that size because for this type of card made in multiples it was so much faster and easier to just punch the 132 circles needed for 44 cards.

Tomorrow I'll post the card that we made for the care center in a neighboring town.  Thanks for coming by today!

WARMEST WISHES & CUSTER STATE PARK

I believe this flower design is a stamp from Impression Obsession.  I colored it with Copic markers but then put it in the card pieces.  It was time to use it.

Below are three pictures from Custer State Park in South Dakota.  We were thrilled at the number of buffalo that our family was able to experience.  They walk right by the cars and even right beside the many motorcycles that drive through.  No one attempts to bother them!!!

These walked right by us. They get close enough that you could touch them but that is a really big NO, NO!

This shows just how many happened to be on the move while we were there.

AFTER they had passed and were at a VERY safe distance I wanted a picture of us with them in the background.

This is the  video  I used to make this card using more retired dsp. After I finished, I was a little dissatisfied with the white background...
