HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHERYL!

This card was made using Peach Pie card stock, papers from the 6 X 6 "2024-2026 In Color" package that has retired, gold foil and pieces from the "Wildflowers Birthday" paper pack.  It is a really fun fun fold to make.  I started by making one for a granddaughter which will be shown later but couldn't stop making them.  This one was sent to a friend in Texas.  We met at church camp when I was in 6th grade.  We haven't seen each other in so many years but I like her to know she's still my friend.

It's never easy to need sympathy cards and I needed one rather quickly.  I kept it simple and used an embossing folder from Stampin' Up!.  I'm not sure if I had ever used it.  As I post this, I need another one for the brother of one of my classmates.

This is a card I made using the idea from Pinterest.  I had the same "circle" dies and embossing folder.  The birds are fussy cut from dsp.  This card makes me happy.

My sister and brother-in-law have been married for 59 years as of today!

MORE SWEET SORBET DSP

These two cards were made with the last of this particular design in the collection.  I still have eight full 6 x 6 sheets of three different designs plus some pieces!  Really not sure what I'm going to do with them.

Two cards using more of the Sweet Sorbet designer series paper from SU.

This card has a little story behind it.  Normally I keep my Stampin' Up card stock in the original package that it comes in.  But I had some odd pieces of this "green" card stock held together with a paper clip.  I had no idea what color it was.  It is similar to some other colors but definitely not the same.

I pulled out the few pieces of dsp from the retired Sweet Sorbet collection and decided it was time to get more of it used.  Fortunately I had saved the piece that comes with dsp showing the name of of the papers AND the name of the colors.  The color is Pistachio Pudding!  It has been discontinued for a long time but luckly I even still had the ink pad which was well inked!  Chalk up a WIN!

LONG RETIRED SWEET SORBET DSP

Another card I made after watching one of Rita Holmes videos on Facebook.  Not one of my favorite results, but I thought I would show it anyway.  It is a fun layout to use with circle punches or dies. And the plus side of this one is that it used up more of  long retired dsp!

CHEERFUL DAISIES

Daisies have always been one of my favorite flowers.  They just seem so happy.  When Stampin' Up! came out with the Cheerful Daisies I definitely wanted the stamps, dies and paper.  I like most of the papers in the collection.  This sheet isn't at the top of the list but I added the die cut spray of daisies on top and that helped.  Unfortunately I still have too much of the paper left!

DSP FROM WAY BACK!

Several times I nearly threw away the two pieces of this dsp that has been haunting my supplies.  I suddenly decided that it could be used on Lost Lagoon card stock.  The layout works so well for so many cards.  I had a full 6 x 6 piece so I cut it into three pieces measuring 5 1/4 x 2 and will be using it into kit for two friends and myself to make together.

I no longer have to see that paper tormenting me!  lol

Rita Holmes did a Facebook video on July 14th showing a card made like this.  I'm trying really hard to use old - sorry, I mean retired - paper.  This was one of the first I ran across in my stash.  It uses the smallest  shape in the arch set.

The card below is actually the first one I made.  I had cut the three arch pieces and realized that the pieces would be upside down due to the Daffodil design.  I like the pieces on the left side as well.

Each of the cards have three gold metal little butterflies as an embellishment.

 If you look closely, you can see a gold metal bird in each of the sections.  I love this SU Beautiful Gallery designer series paper.  It is perfect for making a card using nearly all of a 6 x 6 piece of dsp.

SHADOW BOX CARD

Mary Knabe has one of the videos on YouTube for making one of these.

 

I didn't remember to make a note of where I saw this fold, but I believe it was when I did a search on YouTube that I watched a video.  

I'll try to explain.  The card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" and 2 1/8".  The large piece on the front  is then made with a 5" x 3 3/4" dsp on a 5 1/4" x 4" mat.  Adhesive or glue is then added only to the left portion of the scenery and added to the left 2 1/8" section. (Does that make sense?)

For the inside, I added a Very Vanilla piece measuring 5 1/4" x 4".  A strip for the same dsp that continued the pattern was added to the right side of the inside.  It measured 1 1/2" x 5".

 I used a 3" x 5 1/4" piece of the dsp which I adhered to the card base on the left side.  I then embossed a 1 1/4" strip of Mossy Meadow card stock and added it next tI had a scrap of the dsp that worked well to cover the seam between the two papers.  The sentiment was added.  Quick and easy!

NOTE:  When I make cards, I take a photo of them and place them in a computer file for my blog.  I date them for when I want to post them and this one got scheduled out of order.  Actually, this is not from the "Beautiful Gallery" paper collection as I had mentioned yesterday.  It was a loose piece from another SU designer paper collection "Blackberry Beauty".

I just realized this morning that I had not posted anything since this past Monday.  Somehow time got away from me but by back-dating some posts there are now cards shown for the missing days this week.  Maybe you want to check them out as well.

This week's video from Rita Holmes encouraged us to use multiple dies on a card.  She made a card pretty much like.  This card uses 4 dies, a punch and a manually made banner.  I did forget to add the little piece with a sentiment like Rita did just under the cute little birds.

I had purchased the "Cutest Crew" stamps a while ago.  I don't know if I missed seeing the dies or thought at the time I didn't need them.  Well it is a lot easier to cut out the cute little figures on that stamp set if you have the dies!

I started watching a few Rita Holmes videos on Facebook a little over a year ago I think.    The Tuesday videos are at 9:00 CDT so I found it was a fun way to start my Tuesday mornings and get myself motivated for the day. (And her kitty "Moxie" sometimes adds a little extra fun.)  Rita also has "What's Up Wednesday" video and a "Simply Saturday" video.  Both of those are also at 9:00 CDT.  There are multiple videos from her on YouTube as well, but not all of the Facebook ones.

These three cards were made after watching  her June 30 video.  Rita gives great instructions on how to make the strips and complete the first two cards.  

Since I wasn't sure how successful I would be, I pulled out some 6 x 6 sheets from an old paper pad in my stash.  The colors worked well together to get the look I wanted.  Then the stamped Sunflower is from a retired SU set.

This third card was actually the first one I made and it was not done according to the instructions.  As I sometimes do, I think I know exactly what I'm doing.  Well, I actually wasn't following the instructions from Rita.  The card still turned out OK but I prefer Rita's instructions.

Today's isn't just any 4th of July!  Today is the 250th Birthday/Anniversary of the United States celebrating it's independence.  

Today also means my husband and I celebrate our 58th Wedding Anniversary.  I may have mentioned it before but in 1968, the 4th of July fell on a Thursday.  We took advantage of that extra time for a 10-day trip to travel West on our honeymoon.  We've been truly blessed and are so grateful to have each other after all of these years.

I was down to the last of the papers from this Echo Park 6 x 6 paper pad and didn't want to waste of the the scraps.  I was able to make one more like yesterday's card and seven of the design with the strips.  Waste not...want not.  Most of the cards were given to local people who are in a local care center and a few were mailed to friends.

Last Spring I placed an order for some 6" x 6" paper pads from Echo Park.  The cards I will be posting for the next few days were all made from that pad.  I was able to make 26 cards in all from that pad.  There are multiples of some so I won't be showing all 26.  These cards will be posted through July 4th.
