CARD FROM OUR GATHERING

One of our members had all of the pieces for us to make this card.  We stamped the Penny Black design with VersaMark and then heat embossed it with a powder that had flecks of gold in it. I added the gold strip which she had given us and put the design onto the black card base.  When I got home I added the sentiment and embossed it with gold powder.

BEAUTIFUL CORNER DIE

For the cards above and below, I cut the corner die two times and then added one to the other. I used tiny dots of Tombow liquid glue.  By layering two together it really gives a nice dimension to the cards.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY SISTER

Today my sister and her husband are celebrating their 52nd Wedding Anniversary.  This is the card I sent to them. When I saw this Stampin' Up! embossing folder I knew I wanted it.  I had never had much luck coloring on embossing folders but I wanted to do that with this one.  It's very easy to color with Copic markers.

25TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

A couple from our church celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary this week. I wanted to make a special card for them because we have several connections to them.

This card was CASED from one I saw on Pinterest.  I used a different embossing folder and I did change mine into a 5" x 6 1/2" card.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great weekend and I hope you stop back again next week.

SYMPATHY CARD

PapertreyInk has a die that cuts three windows.  I used the die to cut a mask and then sponged SU Old Olive ink onto the ivory piece of card stock.  The silhouette is from an SU set which I stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  The sentiment is from a $5.00 PapertreyInk stamp set.

STAMPIN' UP! - Wishing You Well

After seeing cards made with this stamp set, I decided it was another "must have".  This was the first card I made with the stamp.  Another one will be posted later.  I used SU dp and inks.

PRETTY DIE CUT FLOWERS

The flower die cut was sent to us when we were in Ankeny from our friend Annie in Canada.  Each of us got one of these.  I love the design.

WEDDING CARD

We don't have use for a wedding card at this time but I've had these two unbranded dies for a while and wanted to finally use them.  This would be a great design using the colors of the wedding (if you know ahead of time).

MAKE 'N' TAKE AT TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS

When we visited Taylored Expressions last month, we had the opportunity to make a card using watercoloring.  I quickly realized this was not my favorite way to color images.

Coloring the flowers was fairly easy but the sample they had for us to see had the entire background colored with the light blue.  I had a terrible time getting the blue so that it was acceptable to me.  I noticed Harriet had colored some of the bottom portion of her card with green so I did the same.  As you can see some of the blue shows through the green but I like that.

I'm still not sold on making watercoloring something I'll be doing but I'm glad I had the chance to give it a try

VARIATION OF DESIGN IN 3 WAYS

The stamped and die cut plant is from Hero Arts "Floral Succulent Plants".  While enjoying time with our group of ladies at Memory Bound in Ankeny, I came across some designer paper and coordinating Washi Tape.  It was perfect to use along with the Hero Arts set.

This card uses only the Washi tape.  Not my favorite card but a different way to use the tape.

Once again this card uses only the Washi Tape but in a more traditional manner.

How perfect is this paper for that stamped design?  The dotted strip is actually a small piece of the reverse side of the designer paper.

PENNY BLACK FLOWER

One of the members of our group, Annie, lives in Canada and has not been able to attend one of our gatherings.  She always enjoys seeing what we do and has always been very generous to send stamped and die cut pieces for us to use.  The flower was one of the things she sent each of us.  She even had it colored and ready to add to card.

First, I embossed a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white card stock with random dots.  Then I used the Memory Box Tulisa Collage die to cut the design in that piece.  The piece was added to the card base using foam adhesive strips.  Then I carefully added some dots of Tombow glue to the flower and placed it over the die cut image.

Thank you, Annie, for sending us those great pieces!

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS

The priest of our parish is celebrating his 30th year of religious service.  This is the card we gave him.  The cross is from an embossing folder which I cut out and then added to the purple piece.  I trimmed around the cross leaving a border of the colored card stock.  The card front was embossed with an ivy design.

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS SIMPLE STRIPS

When I was checking out this die at Taylored Expressions shop in Ankeny, there was a sample card I saw that just used the strips instead of stamping before cutting.  I thought it was a great alternative use for the die and came up with this card.  I didn't have a picture of Taylor's card but had a vague recollection of what it looked like.

To add the strips, I placed them all face down in the arrangement I wanted and then put a wide strip of tape across them to hold them in that position.  All I had to do was add dots of glue around, flip the piece over and add the entire group to the card base all at one time.  The left side of the card seemed to be too open, so I used a stamp to add the navy dots.  The strip with the sentiment was the final touch and was added with foam adhesive strips.

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS - Garden Party Background

I used Stampin' Up! Calypso Coral for this card.  t happened that I had a dimensional bird sticker that had a circle of that same color.  It worked out great for this one.

My friend, Georgia, had given me a sheet of dimensional butterfly stickers.  I had used three blue ones on a card a few days ago  This time I used SU Pistachio Pudding and a green butterfly from that set from Georgia went very well with this card.

Taylored Expressions had samples of this card posted in the store using various colors and a large stamped initial in the center.  Using someone's initials would make great note cards.

PENNY BLACK STICKERS

I have accumulated a lot of sheets of Penny Black stickers and one of my goals when our group met in Ankeny this year, was to get most of them matted and ready to pop unto cards.  I had five or six sheets of the same design in each case.  My friend, Lynette, helped me with the process.  I really appreciated her help in getting dozens ready to use.  These are three cards using just one of the designs in three different ways.

NOTE CARDS

When we met in Ankeny, Kris gave us some items to use.  This note card was one of the items.  It has a design with mermaids on it and I wasn't real sure what to do with it.  Then I remembered this die which covers a nice portion of the front of a card.  Do you see any mermaids now?  They are pretty well covered up and I think someone will enjoy this card for their birthday.

REVERSE SIDE OF DESIGNER PAPER

Yesterday I posted a card using the blue floral dp I purchased in Ankeny.  When I got home I realized there were some very pretty pieces on the back side.  They were just too pretty not to use them so I made the card above and below. and I still have some of the blue dp left over.

SUPPLIES FROM GATHERING

I purchased the designer paper at Memory Bound Scrapbook store in Ankeny.  The butterflies were a gift from Georgia and I was surprised at how well they went with the dp.  The sentiment is from the stamp/die was from my purchase at Taylored Expressions in Ankeny.
