RELAX & ENJOY YOUR DAY!

The New Horizon dsp comes in 6 x 6 sheets.  It works perfect to cut into four 3 x 3 pieces or into 3 x 6 pieces.  I trimmed the piece to 3 x 5 1/2 and added some simple stamping creating a great country scene. I matted this piece with black and then added it to a piece of Kraft cardstock.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Many people are celebrating the holiday weekend and I thought these two cards possibly showed the way some people were relaxing.  The SU "Let Set Sail" set makes a great stamp to add a design to some of the New Horizon paper designs.  The sailboat was stamped and then die cut and adhered to the card front.  Below is a second card..........

I had a second piece of the same New Horizon dsp and cut it down a little further.  Since the matted piece was smaller, the sailboat I used on the first card was too large to use.  I remembered that I had another die set from Impression Obsession.  There was already a white one in the package so I mounted it with tiny pieces of foam dimensionals.

COMBINATION OF BRANDS

The beautiful New Horizons dsp from Stampin' Up! made a perfect background for this card.  The birds are from a stamp dated 2004 but no brand noted.  I think the deer are from Impression Obsession and the white piece was a die cut from a Memory Box piece that I hadn't used in a long time.

USING RETIRED DSP

Recently I commented about trying to use up some retired designer papers that I have.  This is one of them.  I made it several weeks ago so not sure where I saw it but it is basically a CASE of one I saw either on YouTube or Pinterest.

PLAYING WITH SOME "CHICKS"

Using dies it was fun to make a scene for the two chickens which were added with dimensionals.  Thank you for coming by today!

BLACK AND WHITE W/A TOUCH OF PINK

I used the "Flowing Flowers" to make the background for the "Thank You".   I made a second card with the same idea.

BOTANICAL BLOOMS

The last time my two friends came to "play", we made this card.  I think I will add a delicate sentiment to the top of the white layer......it seems just a little empty.  Two of the leaves were cut using silver foil card stock.

2 DAFFODIL AFTERNOON

These were two cards I made before Easter but hadn't shared them yet.  Both cards have the same dsp on the top portion of the card but I used different scraps for the lower portion on each one.

I flipped the label punch vertically instead of horizontally.  I also used a wider strip of the Old Olive and stamped "thanks" on it.  Thank you for coming by today!

ANOTHER SIMPLE MAGNOLIA LANE CARD

This is such beautiful paper!  I don't think any explanation is necessary.

MAGNOLIA LANE DSP

This is a fun layout.  Choose a double-sided designer paper that has good coordinating sides.  Cut a piece that is 4" x 5 1/4".  Trim off the top edge to measure about 1 1/2" x 4" and flip it over.  Ribbon or a contrasting piece of card stock can be added to hide the seam where the two pieces join.  Add a sentiment and you have a quick and easy card.

SNEAKING IN A COUPLE DAFFODIL AFTERNOON

This first picture seems to be a little blurry.  Card kits were made up of this card for my friends and I to do when we were together the last time.  The idea for this one came from Rachel Tessman.  Below is the same card made with Crushed Curry.

NEW HORIZON - 3 Panels

I saw this card made on YouTube.....The Creataivity Cave.   The trees were die cut using a scrap of the New Horizon paper.  The birds were from a stamp I already had.

Thank you for stopping by today!

HAND-PENNED FLOWERS

Once again this is a card that my friends and I made a few weeks ago.  I had intended on just adding one flower in the lower left corner but had an extra one.  I debated about adding the second one.  It's OK but I think I would like it better with just the one.    I do love the hand-penned flowers and dsp.

YUMMY CARD using SIMPLY MARBLEOUS DSP

Terri Gaines has a great video on YouTube showing how to make this card.  Doesn't it look delicious?  The temperatures here in Eastern Iowa had been in the 90's already so this ice cream cone looks is so very appropriate right now.  This is another card that I made kits for my friends and I go make.  It could be done in a variety of color combinations from this dsp.

2 SIMPLY MARBLEOUS Designer Series Paper

The 6 x 6 pack of paper has such beautiful designs for backgrounds.  Both sides are similar.....one side has darker shades than the other.  I saw a video from Mary Knabe on YouTube that I CASED.  I love daisies and they worked great on all of the colors of papers in the pack.....even the gray.

I made up card kits for my friends and I to make one day a few weeks ago.

COLORFUL RAINBOWS

These dies are so fun to work with for making happy rainbows.  I used paper from the 6 x 6 Stampin' Up! Sunshine and Rainbows paper pack.  One of the papers I didn't intend to by but the alternate sides of the papers are going to be very usable as well.

The pieces for this rainbow are also from the same paper pack but what I would maybe call "Side B".  There is only 4 sheet of one pattern that I'm not sure how I will use Side A or B.

NEW HORIZON DSP

When I made this card, I didn't have the coordinating stamp set.  So I used stamps that I already had.  I am LOVING this paper!  I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot more cards made with this paper.

Yesterday the heat and humidity here was awful and of all days we were set to have workers come to start replacing the windows in our house.  I decided to take off and go run some errands which was not the best decision.  Although I was able to get flowers for my pots and accomplish other tasks, I was beat when I got home.  Even though the workers were finished in the bathroom, I waited until they left to get in the shower.  I sat in my recliner with a fan blowing on me.  One of them did tell me that it was OK to turn the air conditioning on because they were closing doors as windows were taken out and replaced.  I actually watched one of them and it was just a matter of a very few minutes that the outside air was exposed to the inside of the house.

Today is going to be even worse!  We went from wet, cool air to a couple of nice days and then into a week of extreme summer weather.  Next week is supposed to be much better so my plants are just going to have to wait until then.  I hope you are experiencing cooler temperatures than we are in Eastern  Iowa.

MY OTHER "Hey, Chick!" CARD

When the first "Chick" stamp set became available there were no dies to go with it.  When the dies came out I decided to get those as well because they make such fun embellishments.

STAMPIN UP! - Hey Chick

I've had both of the "Chick" stamp sets for quite a while but haven't used them as much as I should.  I recently saw some cards that inspired me to pull them out.

A few days ago while I was working with some of the retired SU designer papers, I made a decision that I just need to stop buying so many new stamps, dies and paper.  What I already have will easily last me the rest of my life and plenty left over for someone else to use.  So......you may not be seeing many current items in the Stampin' Up! catalog, but maybe I can inspire you to pull out some of your retired stamps and dies to make great cards.  I watched a video recently on YouTube where the lady was talking about why we feel we have to have all of the current trends.  Her thought was "use what we have".   It really hit home with me.   I have one of the beautiful new paper packs and I will likely get the stamp and die bundle to go with it, but then I'm going to try REALLY HARD to stop being tempted by all that is new.  Anyone else want to join me?

3 CARDS WITH SAME LAYOUT BUT DIFFERENT

The basic layout with a piece of dsp behind a rectangle cut out of the white layer.

I stepped it up with the card by adding the white layer with dimensionals to a piece of red card stock.  The sweet little butterfly is one I have been hoarding for way too long.  It is from a package from "Little B" that I bought in Des Moines years ago.

My final card was made like the second one only using the same color of card stock for the frame as I did for the card base.  The frame on this one was also added with dimensionals.

A SIMPLE CARD WITH DSP

The last time my two friends came to make cards, this was one of the ones we put together.  I make up card kits for us to work on and they are helping me to use up some of my papers.

2 CARDS USING NEW HORIZON DSP

I started by cutting a 6 x 6 piece into four 3 x 3 squares.  For this one I stamped a tree from a stamp set that I have.  The birds were stamped from the SU set.  The deer is from a die set that I have.

Once again, the tree is from a stamp set I have, the birds from the SU set and the deer is from a die set in my stash.

I am really loving this paper and having a fun time doing some scenes with it.

ONE LINGERING DAFFODIL AFTERNOON CARD

This card was made at the same time I made all of the others you have seen.  I cut strips of the dsp from a piece that was probably about 3 1/4 x 4 1/4.....just guessing.....and added them to a piece of black card stock.

USING UP PIECES OF RETIRED DSP

There was an odd piece of this designer series paper in the package and I was determined to use it up.  I made two cards like this but with different sentiments.

As I have mentioned before, I have way too much designer paper.  I truly am going to try very hard to stop buying these packages and concentrate on using what I have.  I'll never get it used up the way it is.  Prices on Stampin' Up! papers are increasing slightly so that will be an incentive to stay away from it.  The same goes for the stamps and dies.  I really don't need anymore so I am going to try very hard to stop buying.  Wish me luck!

STAMPIN' UP! HEART AND HOME DSP - 2 cards

For my first card, I stamped, colored and die cut the flower design and added it to a piece of the "wood" design.  I matted with Gray card stock and then added it to the front of the card.  A little sentiment was added with foam squares.

I stepped it up a little for the second card.  Using the same idea,  I added the flower design with foam squares and then tucked in some die cut foliage pieces.  Once again the tiny sentiment was also added with foam squares.

2 CARDS WITH DAFFODIL AFTERNOON DSP

I know I said I would take a break from this designer series paper, but these two cards are from a completely different type of design.  I wasn't real fond of it but once I saw someone else's card doing this, I decided I could make a couple of cards.  After cutting the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece at an angle, I had two pieces for 2 cards.

I'm really thankful that the other side of this double sided dsp has a design with small hearts which will be easy to use with papers from other packages of paper if I want.

BIRTHDAY CARD FOR MY BROTHER

I had intended to post this today on May 1st.  There is still another 1 1/2 hours before Monday, so I'm going to post it anyway.  (I have cards already lined up for the entire month.)

The background is done by inking up acrylic blocks and stamping them.  The feathers are from a retired Sttampin' Up! set.

When I sent the card to my brother I forgot to take a picture of it so he took one but kind of an odd angle.....although he didn't know that I'd be posting it here.

And here are the final four cards you get from  this  video by Karen Titus.    I may try to do this with some papers from some other collect...
