MYSTERY MONDAY CARD - February 27th

Sunday we were busy and went to watch a granddaughter in a volleyball tournament.  They didn't win, but they certainly played so much better than they had the weekend before.  Yesterday was busy again and I didn't realize I hadn't scheduled a post.

Last night I was able to watch Sharon Armstrong's Mystery Monday video.  On Sunday she had sent an email out with all of the pieces that were needed but I didn't get them cut.  After the "Live" started, I hit "pause" and hurriedly cut the pieces, grabbed a stamp set that I thought I might work and then step-by-step caught up with the "live" portion of the presentation.

I had the Fancy Flora dsp pack on my table so that is the dsp I chose to use for the card.  Coincidentally, Sharon used a different sheet from the same package.

I'm not real happy with the image that I stamped and would spend a little more time searching for just the right thing.  The directions had said to use a die cut but she always encourages us to "go rogue" if we choose.

FUSSY CUT FLOWERS

The card base is Mossy Meadow.  Once again I ran a piece of white card stock through my Cuttlebug with the Stitched Greenery die.   I added a scrap of dsp from Wonderful World and then carefully glued the fussy cut flower onto the front.  This card was CASED from one I saw on Pinterest.

BACK TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD DSP

While I was fussy cutting for the first card I made, I decided to just get all of them cut out at the same time.  I had a strip of dsp that coordinated perfectly with this fussy cut flower.

My card base is a standard A2 size.  I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white card stock and used the stitched greenery die to give it some texture.  The strip of dsp was added next.  I used a stitched circle die for matting the fussy cut flower and popped it with dimensionals.

CASING ROBIN ARMBRECHT

Recently I watched a video presentation from Robin Armbrecht where she made a card like the one above (and the one below) using scraps.  I didn't have scraps of this particular dsp, but I did have the paper and purposely cut strips like she had used.  You can probably tell that there is just a very tiny space between each strip.  That was intentional on both cards.   I'm not all that great at being able to randomly put things together so I just followed the way she had done hers. I love the Petal Pink and Gray colors together!

I keep a little zip lock bag of scraps from dsp packages and keep the bag right with the full sheets.

MYSTERY MONDAY CARD

A few weeks ago I made this card along with Sharon Armstrong's Mystery Monday Sunday challenge.  I love the double fold and layout of the card.  Sometimes my cards don't turn out so well with the challenges, but based on the pieces that we cut ahead of time, I had a pretty good idea of what the card would look like.  That definitely helped me choose my dsp, stamps and sentiment.

SPLIT CARD TEXTURE DIE

The Split Card Texture dies from SU are so fun to use on a card and it worked really well with the Wonderful World dsp that I chose for this card.

COLLAR FUN FOLD WITH WONDERFUL WORLD DSP

This is another flower that I fussy cut from the package of Wonderful World dsp.  A 3 3/4" x 5" piece of another sheet from the package was used for the collar fold.  This piece was then added to a white piece of white card stock of the same size.  Next I matted these two pieces with Starry Sky card stock and then added them to the white card base.  The papers in this free package of dsp are so pretty.  Love the colors!

WONDERFUL WORLD DSP #2

This is another one of the designs from the sheet full of flowers which I fussy cut.  I'm not fond of doing a lot of "fussy" cutting but I sat down and cut all of them out from one of the sheets......so you'll be seeing more of them.

WONDERFUL WORLD FREE DSP

One of the sheets in this paper pack have flowers that are best used by fussy cutting them.  There is no matching die and there isn't another good way of using them.

Thank you for coming by.........I almost forgot to post something!

FANCY FOLD - Birthday card for a friend

This is a card I made for my friend, Carol.  The card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" with a white layer that measures 4" x 5 1/4".  A second piece is then "fancy folded".  DSP was added to two of the panels, stamping sentiments to two of the panels and a final narrow strip to decorate the inside.  It's a fun card to make but unfortunately it doesn't stand up.

SENDING LOVE AND SYMPATHY

One of our daughters lives an hour away and when her children were small, we weren't able to help out as much as we would have liked when she suddenly needed someone to watch the kids.  Fortunately she had made friends with a lady at church who filled in and we all called her Grandma Fran.  She is such a lovely lady!

We see her on various family occasions.....dance recitals, graduations etc.  Recently Grandma Fran's husband passed away and I certainly wanted to send her a card.

The card base is Crumb Cake.  I'm not sure of the measurements of the other layers.  I fussy cut the flower from the "Wonderful World" dsp and added it to the white layer with dots of Tombow glue.  The sentiment is from the SU "Love and Sympathy" stamp set.  This layer was added to a gold foil layer and then added to the card.

I forgot to take a picture of the inside of the card, but I used an old wood mounted stamp with "praying hands".  I inked it, stamped it off once and then stamped it inside for a light image.  Then I stamped a sentiment over the top.  I love the look doing that especially on sympathy cards.

MORE "FLOWERS FOR ALL SEASONS"

While I had the package of dsp on my table, I made a second card.  The card base is Magenta Madness card stock.  The white layer measures 4" x 5 1/4".  Before adding it to the card base, I added strips of the patterned dsp.  This was added to the card base.  I used a die to cut a rectangle from white and one from the Magenta Madness.  I stamped my sentiment and then put them together.....off setting them for a different look.  The sentiment was added with dimensionals and then the punched green leaves were tucked in behind.

SIMPLE LAYOUT - Clean and Simple

In my effort to use up dsp that I have in my supplies, I pulled out the SU "Flowers for Every Season".  The reverse sides of these double sided sheets do not work well for using a 4" x 5 1/4" piece cutting it to flip a portion for the other side.  This used two different pieces.  I also used a punch to get the little leaves that are tucked behind the sentiment (which looks like it is crooked!).

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

A couple of weeks ago, I watched one of Susan Campfield's videos and she made this card using other papers.  I still needed to make two more Valentines and used papers from the "Sweet Talk" designer series paper pack.  I realize this is probably too late for you to use this year, but keep it as a project for 2024.

This is actually a very simple card to make.

Card base is 4 1/4" x  10 1/2".  Score at 2 1/2", 3 3/4", 6 3/4" and 8".
You need two squares of colored card stock that are 4" x 4"
You need two squares of designer series paper......(I cut two the same and flipped one to use the reverse side.)
Assemble and decorate.

The large die cut heart on the front is from a Spellbinder's die set.

The video can be seen HERE if you would like to follow along with Susan.

CUTE LITTLE VALENTINE BUNNY

A few months ago I saw this cute little bunny on someone's card and found the die on Amazon.com.  There is also a little bench for the bunny to sit on.  Recently I saw a Valentine made using and the bunny was holding this little bouquet of hearts.  I had to have it and found it on Amazon.  I used the basic idea that the other person used for the heart, bunny and bouquet.  But the rest of the card is my own.  The red and white dsp is from the retired papers with the strawberries.  It was a little more busy than I wanted so I added vellum over it.  Before doing that I had to add the white layer with the design to the vellum.  Then the vellum was added over the dsp by adding adhesive only behind the white layer.  The vellum didn't want to lay as flat as I wanted so I did take just a hint of Tombow white glue to my finger and then lightly touched each of the corners to get it to lay down.  The glue doesn't show.

BOHO INDIGO MEDLEY - #3

The card base is Night of Navy.  I cut a piece of ivory card stock that is 4" x 5 1/4" and then just embossed the right portion of that piece and adhered it to the card base.  The papers in this collection are 6" x 6".  When you use a piece from one of the sheets that is 4" x 5 1/4" it leaves this 2" strip.  I trimmed it down to 2" x 5" and then added it to a mat that is 2 1/4" x 5 1/4".   I have a lot of these 2" strips that will be used on cards.........maybe a good project for my friends and I to work on at a play date........

STAMPIN' UP! - BoHo Indigo Medley

I have been hoarding all of the papers from this collection.  I fell in love with the entire bundle when it was available.  I have to admit I bought too much of the paper but in my effort to use the many retired papers that I have, I pulled it out and made three cards.

As you can see, I really like this layout for a card.  I start with an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of card stock and score it at 4 1/4".  Then I cut off 1/2" and discard that piece.  Next I cut a piece of the dsp to measure 4" x 5 1/4" but cut off 1/2" on the right edge.  That strip of dsp is added to the inside right edge of the inside.  If you use colored card stock as a base, you will then need to see what size of white/ivory card stock you need to add on the inside for your sentiment, which is what I did on the first card.  You will see the third one tomorrow.

Thank you for coming by today!  Hope you are having a great weekend!

MORE STAMPIN' UP! "Abstract Beauty" dsp

This piece from that package is "very busy" so I decided to cover up a large portion of the front with the stamped sentiment which was matted and then added with dimensionals.

Thank you for coming by today!

I saw someone use this piece from the Abstract Beauty dsp package.  There is no color on the piece oter than the black outlines and little gold pieces, so like the card I saw, I colored the flower sand leaves to perk it up.  I added the sentiment with dimensionals and then tucked in a sprig of pink and some gold leaves behind it.

STAMPIN' UP! - Sand and Sea dsp

After I bought the paper, I had a really hard time deciding how to use it.  I made a couple of cards using some of the other sheets.  I was determined to do something more with what I had left so I made card kits for my two friends and I to put together on one of our play dates.  There is a "belly band" around the center to keep it closed. Below is a picture of the opening.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TUCKER!

Today our Grandson, Tucker, is turning 17 years old.  It can't be true!  This year he decided as a Junior in High School to go out for basketball.  Well, it's not going to be one of those high on the list things to remember.  He doesn't have the experience that the other boys have from back in Junior High and their high school years.  He's gotten some playing time but not much.  However, he is a golfer so that gave me an idea for his card...............well, actually an idea from a card I saw on Pinterest.  This one is much better suited to him than when I thought about doing something for basetball...........which didn't work out anyway because I had sold my retired SU stamp set that had a basketball and basketball hoop in it.

As ususal, what is inside the card will be what he's more interested in.  Thank you for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Fancy Flora

The papers in this package of 6" x 6" papers are a bit unusual for me but I just love most of them.  This is the first card I made with one of the patterns.  The Just Jade card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4".  Then I cut off 1 1/4" from the right edge of the front.

Here you can see how the front panel of the card had been cut away so that the contrasting dsp would show when closed.

RINGS OF LOVE DSP

The "Rings of Love" dsp was a a free package of 12" x 12" paper.  Frankly I don't think I would have bought it otherwise.  There are two sheets that have this design.  I fussy cut a portion of it to use.  I saw a simpler version of this card on Pinterest.

The arrangement on the white card stock is basically the same as what I saw.  Instead of leaving the card base plain, I embossed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Evening Evergreen card stock and added it to the card base of the same color.  I also added gold foil card stock behind the piece with the design.

It is going to be hard for me to use up these two sheets unless I find some more great ideas.

JUST A SILLY LITTLE NOTE CARD

I can't remember the name of this dsp, but I've had it for several years and am trying to use up the last of it.  As usual, I turn to Pinterest when I want to get something made very quickly and not waste time trying to "think about it."

I have a circle punch that cut out these little pieces to just the right size.  I'm not sure what the card will be used for yet, but a little sentiment of "Just a Note" or "Just Because" could be added to the front.

FANCY FOLD USING ABSTRACT BEAUTY

Outside of card

 Opening the card

I think I made this card from one of Sharon Armstrong's Mystery Monday challenge directions.  I will admit that I had watched the "reveal" on Monday after the live video was over so it made making this card much easier.

On Sundays Sharon sends out directions (Clue #1) of what you will need for the Monday live.  She gives the sizes and pieces of card stock that you will need as well as any other supplies.  Then on Monday evening she reveals Clue #2 etc. until you have a completed card.  It's amazing the different ideas that come through even with everyone using the same step-by-step.

MORE ABSTRACT BEAUTY DSP

The papers on these two cards are definitely "abstract" and out of the ordinary for me, but some of the favorites from the package.  Unfortunately it is difficult to get a picture of the gold hexagons on both because of the reflections.

STAMPIN' UP! - Abstract Beauty dsp

The 4" x 6" package of Abstract Beauty has some really nice prints.  This wasn't necessarily one of my favorites but I think it made a bright cheery card with the added butterfly. When I cut the corner from the 4" x 5 1/4" piece, I saved the corner and will use it on a separate card.

It's February 1st so that means - Next Month we will get the beginning of Spring!!! Thank you for coming by today!

These are two cards I made using the second format from Robin Armbrecht's video.  (You can see a link in yesterday's post.)  I li...
