BLENDING INK OVER SPECIALTY PAPER

A few weeks ago one of my friends came and I showed her how to use inks to create a fun background with blender brushes.  A few days later I used the white die cuts from the Timeless Arrangement set to create a focal point for the card.

Say good-bye to July.  Tomorrow many students will be saying "School starts this month!"  Thank you for coming by today!

USING A MASK AND A BLENDER

The dsp with the house design is from the Rings of Love collection of DSP.  I'm glad the paper was FREE because I'm not fond of the designs.  I did see a card similar to this on Pinterest so I cut several squares with a house and will get that design used with no problem.  A sentiment inside could certainly be "from our home to yours".

I masked the card base and used a blender brush to add the square background.  I like the die cut piece that was placed over that background.

HAPPY 57th ANNIVERSARY TO MY SISTER & BIL

Like my mother, my sister is a quilter.  She has made and helped make many quilts for the Linus Project.  I made this card after watching a video from Rita Holmes and decided it was a great one to send my sister and her husband for their 57th Anniversary.  I had posted it on the Facebook site for Rita Holmes and did not realize that my sister was going to see it.  I had made mention that I would be sending it to her and said "I hope she likes it."  She made a reply to the post and said "I do."  That was back in June or early July so I told her to forget what she saw so she can be surprised again.

The squares were made with a 1 1/4" punch and arranged easily on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white card stock.  The spacing was pretty easy.  After they were adhered, the piece was run through my Cuddlebug with an embossing folder to give the look of being quilted.  Then it was added to the card base.

Rita showed how she added a couple of pieces inside.  Thank you for stopping by today!

ANOTHER RAINBOW

The heat wave that has been scorching the West and Southwest moved into Iowa yesterday.  I'm afraid we are in for heat in the upper 90's for the rest of the week.  I don't tolerate heat well so I am hibernating.  Thankfully that doesn't bother me having to stay in.

The striped paper is another one from the Rainbows and Sunshine collection and works great with this die.  I added the three clouds and a little sunshine peeking out behind one of them.  I think the dies are from PapertreyInk.

SUNSHINE & RAINBOWS DSP

Just a simple card using this fun paper with the rainbows and sunshine.  I have had a hard time using some of the designs from this collection, but I really like this one.  With so much going on in the design there wasn't any need for something more than the sentiment.  I've always loved rainbow colors.

STAMPIN' UP! - Inked and Tiled (2 cards)

I watch a lot of videos from Sharon Armstrong.  These are two of the cards she demonstrated on THIS video.  The second card is a little "busy" but it was a fun way to use those shapes.   I really like the Inked an Tiled stamp set and have used it for several cards already.  The papers is called Inked Botanicals.  As I stated in a previous post, this isn't usually a paper I would have ordered but did see some cards made with it that I liked.

WONDERFUL THOUGHTS

Yesterday we made a trip to and from Minnesota's Largest Candy Store a/k/a Jim's Apple Farm.  We have been going once a year during the summer.  Our excuse is that we need puzzles for the next Winter but we always manage to come home with sweet treats,  various flavors of pop and this time a wonderful apple bread.

The trip is usually a lot of fun and we did have some laughs with one of our daughters who was free to go with us. However I-35  had long stretches of slow moving one-lane traffic.  After two times of that and losing valuable time, I calculated a new route.........that didn't work out so well either.  I'm a good map reader and use it as a supplement to our Garmin when we travel.  It's amazing how many roads were closed after we we would start out.  Detour after detour.  At one point we had made a circle!   My poor husband was getting very frustrated and losing patience but we did eventually make it.  Fortunately our daughter's phone saved the day because it picked up on the road closures that my Garmin and Rand McNally road map did not.  It cost us nearly an hour of time getting to our destination.  Needless to say we found a different way home!

Yesterday's card was actually posted just now but I was able to use yesterday's date on it. This card is another one I CASED.  This is the card I copied.

CASING LAYERING LEAVES

You can see the card I used as inspiration HERE.  I changed up the color of my card because I didn't have the Highland Heather dsp.  I had decided to get the package that included the Moody Mauve so that's what I used for mine.  I also changed up the embossing folder I used for the panel on the right and arranged my leaves a little different.

CHEERFUL DAISIES DSP & DIES

I really debated about adding this card to my blog.  I was not happy with the way it came out.  I had watched a video by Rita Holmes and she used these papers and dies.  However her card was a fancy fold with little mechanisms involved.  When it came time to do it, I just was too intimidated and feeling too rushed to do it.  Maybe another day.  But since I had the materials out, I came up with this card.  Definitely not one of my favorites.

STACK, CUT & SHUFFLE - Using 5 sheets!

I stumbled across this idea on Pinterest.  I was just trying to find something to inspire me one day.  I've made "Stamp, Cut & Shuffle" cards before but never with 5 sheet of dsp!  It was a little tricky cutting through all 5 sheets at the same time.  I've been trying to use up pieces from the "Rainbows and Sunshine" pack and decided that this was a perfect way to use up a majority of 5 sheets.  You can see the post I saw HERE.  I'm not sure I will use this method again, but it certainly was useful for these papers and with these types of patterns, the cards are kind of fun.

TIMELESS ARRANGEMENTS

Yesterday I saw this card on Wanda Pettijohn's blog.  I wanted to make a card for a friend and decided to use her layout.  These dies make such a beautiful arrangement.  While I changed up the colors for my own card, I thought Wanda's card was beautiful as well with those bold colors.  Think of the color combinations for the four seasons.

HELLO IRRESISTABLE

The flowers were die cut from one of the 6 x 6 sheets of dsp.  The die cut is a little tricky to handle but I sure do love the look of it once it's on the card.  I used double sided adhesive to adhere it to the card.

STAMPIN' UP! - Petal Park

I am loving this stamp set with coordinating punch  I pulled out the retired Watermelon Wonder card stock for the mat and ink for the flowers and sentiment.  I used Old Olive to stamp the outline for the leaves. I also used Old Olive to fill in the leaves but stamped off once before putting ink to paper.

STAMPIN' UP! - Cheerful Daisies

It's 10:30 PM, but it is still Sunday so I'm posting late today!  This was a card I made after watching someone's video.  I've been watching a lot of videos lately so I'm not sure who did a card like this.  Just a simple birthday card.

FUN FORMAT

I saw THIS video and thought it was a fun layout and so different than any I had ever made.  It looks like a puzzle but very easy to make.

DIMENSIONAL STICKER

A very quick and easy card.  I found this sticker in my old stash and decided it needed to be used.  It went well with Stampin' Up! Balmy Blue.

JULY 11TH - GIFT FOR A FRIEND

Connie Stewart has a video to make a box which will hold 10-12 cards including the envelopes.  A few weeks ago we were going to be surprising a friend for her birthday and I decided to follow Connie's directions to make the box.  It worked perfectly.  I was very pleased with how the box turned out.  If there had been more time, I would have had the cards more coordinated, but this was a good a variety and she loved them.

Covid was no fun (again), but I'm definitely doing much better.  I've actually spent some time at my craft table over the last two day.  Sure felt good to get back working with my "toys".  I'll see if I can keep up with my blog again now.  I may just post the card without much else, but I want to try to have a card/cards each day again.

Thank you for coming by today.

JULY 8TH POST

This is a specialty paper from Stampin' Up.  The white design is on the paper.  I blended inks over it and the design resists the ink.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I didn't get a new card made for the holdiay so I pulled this one from my files.  It was one I CASED from one I saw on Pinterest.  It was a really fun one to make.

Five-five years ago today my husband and I were married.  Our wedding took place at Noon with a formal dinner afterward.  We actually celebrated on Sunday by going to a movie and lunch afterward.  So today we are just taking it easy and relaxing.

AWASH IN FLOWERS - Fancy Fold

This sheet of the Awash in Flowers was perfect for this type of card.  I love how the flowers start off lower on the left and work their way up to the top on the other panels.  It left a perfect place for the "birthday wishes".  Although the far right is red card stock, It will still work to add a few words and signature with black ink.

And here are the final four cards you get from  this  video by Karen Titus.    I may try to do this with some papers from some other collect...
