STAMPIN' UP! - Retired Punch

I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest and decided I wanted to make one very much like it.  I punched the flower twice with SU Honeybee Card Stock.  Then I realized that the card I saw had been stamped before it was punched.  I either had sold the coordinating stamp set or maybe never bought it, but I was stumped for a few minutes. I discovered that I have a Sharpie Extra Fine Point White paint pen.  I looked at what the stamped design would look like from the one I saw on Pinterest and simply dew in the lines onto the petals.  It worked!  The leaves are actually from the same punch.  The center of the flower is from a floral stamp set and the diagonal lines were from the SU Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Thank you for coming by today.............Have a great weekend!

FIXING A SMUDGE

My brother's birthday isn't until March 26th and when I started this card, I didn't plan to post until then.  He doesn't follow my blog so I decided to share it today because of the struggle I had making it.  The two friends who make cards with me (when there isn't a pandemic) have always laughed at how I'm able to find a way to "fix" things.  I hate spending a lot of time on a card only to ruin it with a smudge.  Well, I thought that was what was going to happen on this one.

My brother and his wife spend 3 months in Arizona during the winter.  Last year I made a card using the Stampin' Up! "The Gangs all Meer" stamp set.  I hadn't used it since so I thought I'd come up with a different design for this year.  I stamped the Meerkats & the two cactus and colored them with SU Blenders.  Next I stamped two more pieces for the cactus and the Meerkats on a second piece of white card stock and fussy cut them out.  I placed these with removable tape over the colored ones to serve as a mask.

I also die cut some clouds to serve as masks on the upper portion of the design and then sponged Balmy Blue ink over all of the masked areas down to about 1/2" - 3/4".  I used Soft Suede ink to sponge the ground area while the masks were still in place.  The blue and brown inks were sponged on by "pouncing" the ink instead of trying to swirl it on.

When I was done and removing the masks from all of the areas, I was just sick because there was a brown smudge line which you can see in the picture above.  After all of the time spent planning and getting the front of the card this far, I certainly didn't want to start all over again (since I already had twice before).

Take it from me...........don't ever throw out a piece until you are absolutely positive there is nothing you can do to fix it.  This was going to be a birthday card and I immediately thought of balloons and I remembered a tiny Marvy Uchida punch with the balloon design.  The red one covered the brown smudge from my finger perfectly so I used a fine line black Sharpie to draw strings down to the hand of the little Meerkat.  SUCCESSFUL FIX!

STAMPIN' UP - Flower Fest #2

This is the same flower as yesterday's card. For this one I stamped the design four times but used the Crushed Curry ink on Crushed Curry card stock.  I love the dimension of this flower when it is layered like this.

STAMPIN' UP! - Flower Fest (Retired)

I've been going through some of my older SU stamps and deciding which ones I could part with.  Before deciding to sell any of them I head to Pinterest to see if there is any last cards I'd like to make with them.  This is a very similar one to one I did see there.  The flower is a single stamp that I stamped with Versa Mark ink on the Daffodil Delight card stock. The pieces were all then heat embossed with White Opaque powder.  I stamped it four times and then cut the various layers.  I assembled them then with a mini foam pad.  The leaves were also done with VersaMark on Pear Pizzaz and heat embossed.

I liked this one so well that I stamped off the same flower and leaves on more colors of card stock.  For some I stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed them.  For some I stamped with the same color of ink as the card stock I was using.  You'l probably see more of them eventually.

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love #7

While I had the Balmy Blue Blender on my table I colored in a piece of the True Love designer sheet.  Instead of cutting out any of the flowers I used the piece in its entirety.  I saw a card on Pinterest that had then added a piece of the black and white striped paper from the reverse side of the same sheet.  The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions and cut with the matching die.

Thanks for stopping by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love #6

Last week I said I'd have a couple more cards this week using the True Love papers.  This is the first one and I will have one more tomorrow.  After coloring the pair of flowers with SU Blenders, I fussy cut and then added them to an embossed square.  I also matted the piece onto a Balmy Blue mat.  I used my favorite anniversary stamp from Papertrey Ink.

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love designer paper #5

I love the red black and white.  For this card I fussy cut a two flower cluster and a single flower for the focal point.  Next week I will have a couple more of these but then I will have a couple of cards made with an older SU stamp set......trying to decide whether to sell it.

Thanks for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love designer paper #4

Stampin' Up! has a great embossing folder that gives the look of linen.  I'm not sure if you can see that in the picture but it really looks so much nice than just a solid white piece.

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love designer paper - #3

The sheet I have been using has clusters of three flowers, pieces with two flowers and some single flowers.  This one I colored with Calypso Coral and used the same color for the card base.

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love designer paper #2

For this card, I simply fussy cut the flowers and added a strip of the striped paper from the reverse side of another sheet.  I added 3 tiny black metal gems.

I thought I would show you a picture of what this sheet of designer paper looks like if you don't have it yourself. It has a black and white stripe on the reverse side which you will see on a card later in the week:

There are single flowers, groups of two and clusters of three flowers.  Thank you for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - True Love designer paper #1

The entire package of paper is in black and white; but like this one, a lot of them can be colored.  For the next few days I will be posting pictures of the cards I have made recently.

VALENTINE #13

The die I used for this card is from Simon Says.  I have used it to make anniversary cards as well.  It was an easy die to use for the 20 cards on our mailing list.

STAMPIN' UP! - From the Heart #12

The heart in the middle has three layers.  It was added to a white strip that had the ends cut with a Stampin' Up! punch.   Not one of my favorites.

STAMPIN' UP! - From the Heart #11

The die cut heart is from Spellbinders.  I try not to put sentiments on the front of Valentines because then I have a hard time with something inside.  I usually just stamp "Hope your day is special".

Thank you for stopping by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - From the Heart #7

For this one I used paper from the same pack, cut out a red heart with the large scalloped punch, a white heart with the smaller punch and then a second red heart from another punch I have.  I wanted something more so I pulled out a Martha Stewart border punch and made the strip to go behind the large heart.  Nothing special but another one done for next year.

STAMPIN' UP! - From the Heart #6

Yesterday's card was using a patterned paper with the same design but had a pink background.  This one has the white background and was cut to 3 3/4" x 5".  I like the white background better.  It was matted on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Real Red and added to the white card base.  The die cut heart is from a Spellbinders die set.  Since the pattern showed through the center of that die cut, I ran the die through one more time with a small piece of white paper and popped that small heart into the center.

STAMPIN' UP! - From the Heart #5

A couple of weeks ago I started showing some cards I had made with the Stampin' Up! From the Heart designer paper pack.  This is the 5th one I put together.  It is a "Gate Fold" with the belly band which slips off.  I had a 4" x 5 1/4" piece and split it in half so that the patterns would match in the middle.  I did have to then trim off on the left side of one and the right side of the other.

I'll have cards to show all week using papers from this pack.  I hope you'll check back to see them.

A few days ago I watched a video from  Karen Titus  using 1" squares.  I thought it would be fun to pull out some scraps from one of my...
