CREATING WINTERY SCENES

The crunch is on for Christmas preparations.  I still have gift card holders to make and fix some unbaked sweet treats........so.......for the rest of the week, I will be only posting pictures of cards.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will try to answer.  You will need to come back to the posts for any answers if I don't have your contact information.

STAMPIN' UP! - Evergreen Elegance

Can you believe Christmas is one week from today?  I'm still trying to finish off projects so I will just say the card was made using an SU border punch and the retired "Evergreen Elegance" stamp set.

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS ANGEL

Last year I had started to make this card.  I had the pieces all cut with the stamped and colored image all done.  It was my goal to finish some of the projects that were in my Christmas supplies.  The angel from Taylored Expressions was colored with the Light Balmy Blue blender and a couple of Copic markers for her hair.  This year I had purchased the "For Unto Us" stamp set and used this sentiment.  The little "stars" were from the "Angels of Peace" stamp set.

REPEATING A SYMPATHY CARD

I believe I posted a card like this before. We need a card for the family whose 99 year old mother had passed.  This has become my go-to layout using the Forever Fern stamps and dies.  The sentiment is from the retired Love & Sympathy stamp set.

LEAVES OF HOLLY and SPLIT CARD TEXTURES

Rita Holmes had a "live" VIDEO of this card.  Mine is virtually the same except for the dsp I used behind the angled die cut.

Our Granddaughter, Emma, wanted to help do Christmas cookies.  I baked a double batch of sugar cookies and Monday after she got off work she came and helped to decorate them.  I used a round cookie cutter but wanted to make some smaller bite-size cookies to include with some treats I will be handing out to a few people.  I didn't have a smaller circle cutter, so I used the top of a shot glass.    The other cookies are a recipe I got from a friend, Ann Schach.  It was a recipe they had in their family and they call it "Mama's Candy".  Emma mixed them up and dropped them onto cookie sheets.

SWEET CANDY CANES

I cased a card I watched THIS video on YouTube and decided to make one.  I love how one of the dies from the bundle cuts out the candy canes from one of the sheets in the designer series paper.

Update on our Granddaughter in the PA program.  Weather cooperated and we made it to the ceremony last Friday.  It was so special being able to watch her receive her White Coat.  She will now have 11-12 months of rotations in various hospitals.  The down side is that she will not be able to have any kind of a job but still has to arrange for places to stay......3 times in Chicago!  She has been able to arrange with various relatives and friends of friends for most of the placements.

We were able celebrate with a family meal after the ceremony but then Allissa needed to get home to study.  She had a final yesterday which covered the entire program thus far and she was nervous.  Last night I got a message from her and she wanted to let us know that she DID pass all of her finals.   (We had no doubt about her passing.) I told her we had every faith in her that she would.  Now for a break for the holidays.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ASHLYN!

Today our Granddaughter, Ashlyn, is hopefully celebrating her birthday.  It's always easy to remember how old she is since she was born in 2000.  It doesn't seem possible that she is 22 years old!

My card for her is actually a CASE of one I saw on Wanda Pettijohn's blog page.  You can see it HERE.  The card is made using Misti Moonlight card stock and ink, Mint Macaroon ink and dsp from the Hand Penned package.  Below you can see the inside of the card.

POPPY STAMPS WINDOW DIE

While searching for ideas to use up some of the "Feels Like Frost" dsp that I still have, I ran across a picture similar to this using a piece behind a window.   I used Seaside Spray card stock for the top layer and coordinating ink for the sentiment.

SWEETEST CHRISTMAS dsp - 2 cards

This was my first card using the dies and papers for this bundle.  Looking at it now, I'm not pleased with the placement of the candy cane  It shouldn't have been place completely vertical.

I like the placement of the pieces on this card much better.  I also like the "Merry & Bright" sentiment on a tag instead of a stamped design beside the candy cane on the first card.  This is a fun bundle to play with .

LEAVES OF HOLLY

I saw this card on Pinterest.  I've never done one quite like this but I thought I would give it a try.  When I cut the leaves I cut them with a double sided adhesive on the back so I could add them without glue.  The piece with the sentiment was added with dimensionals.

(I am preparing this post in advance to appear on December 9th.  We're hopefully out of town to attend the White Coat Ceremony of our Granddaughter Allissa who is advancing in her PA program.  As I prepare this post, they are predicting 3-6 inches of snow on Friday when we will be traveling.  Praying it doesn't ruin our trip.)

STAMPIN' UP! - Angels of Peace

This layout is a little different and not my favorite because it doesn't provide much space inside for writing much of a note.  As you can see from the picture below the left hand portion of the card flips up revealing the sentiment and a place for a signature.

Sorry for the crooked pictures.  😀  I'm getting down to crunch time for getting cards finished off, signed, addressed and in the mail......so I hurriedly took the photos.

STAMPIN' UP! - Wondrous Wreath

A few days ago I posted the picture of a card using the Wonderful Wreath stamp.  I like this stamp better.  It isn't quite so "heavy".  It is a three step design and I love that it includes the "berries".  I used Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Real Red inks.

FUN WAY TO USE CIRCLE DIES

I had been seeing cards using circle dies in this manner and thought I would give it a try.  I needed a little inspiration so I once again turned to You Tube.  If you want a little boost to try it, THIS is a link to one of the videos showing how it is done.  I also gave it a try using other shapes just for fun.

ORAGAMI CHRISTMAS TREE

When I saw this tree on a You Tube video, I just thought it was too cute and had to make one. I made this card several weeks ago and was unable to find the actual video I watched but HERE is a link to one where you can see how it is made.  I used Stampin' Up! papers.

STAMPIN' UP! - Whimsy & Wonder dsp

The papers in this package of paper are just beautiful.  They are a little more non-traditional but I love the pastel colors.  Many of the designs have foil accents which are stunning.  I die cut a tree from a Tim Holtz die set and added it to the card front.  I then simply stamped the "Merry Christmas".  The sentiment was die cut and embossed with a Spellbinders circle die.

RETIRED STAMPIN' UP! WONDERFUL WREATH

Although I have some new Christmas designs to use, I wanted to make sure that I was also making use of some stamp sets that had seen little use.  I believe the "Joy" die cut is from Penny Black.  I used an SU embossing folder to add texture to the white mat.

This is the same stamp set used for the card below but in a vertical format:

This one is a CASE of one I saw on Pinterest.  I got the "Joy" placed a little too high.  I like the stamped bow on the first card better.

USING RETIRED DSP and SU PUNCH

The "All Is Calm" dsp has such soft colors and I wanted to get more of it used.  There are still some pieces left but "maybe" I can get those used up too.

Thank you for coming by today!

Jackie Bolhuis had a  video a few weeks ago using these little birds. All of these use the layouts use a strip of dsp measure 1 3/4"-2...
