STORYBOOK FRIENDS
This has been a busy week and I realized that I had forgotten to post something on Wednesday and Thursday so I back dated a post for each of those days in case you want to check them out.
The April 1st post is using a layout from Rita Holmes who I follow on Facebook. Rita could certainly use any and all prayers today. She is having surgery for breast cancer today.

RITA HOLMES VIDEO 3/31
As you probably know by now if you follow my blog, I enjoy watching the videos from Rita Holmes on Facebook. If you are on Facebook, . This was the layout she used this past Tuesday. I had been working with the Painterly Pears dsp from Stampin' UP so I pulled out designs from that pack to make this card. You can see the video HERE. I'm not sure if she was able to post a link for the measurements but I was able to replicate her card just by looking at her sample.
It is a fun layout and a way to use those narrow strips of dsp instead of tossing them.

TWO PROJECTS
I follow the "Quilt Cards and More" page on Facebook. There was a card nearly identical to this one using a "tulip" design. I still had some of that same paper so decided it was something I wanted to try. The directions for this card make for cards. It starts with a 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" base and then multiple pieces of the various colors. When all the pieces have been added, the base is cut into four equal squares measuring 3 3/4" 3 3/4". I didn't want four cards and was able to cut just what I needed for this one.
My second project yesterday was making bookmarks which will be given to the local library for the children to color and either keep or give to adults who check out books.

NORTON'S NOOK - "Cluck" Stamp & Die Set
Below is a card I made after watching a Rita Holmes video on 3/17. While I had the stamp set out, I decided to make a card that I liked better using the stamp set. The "chicken wire" is not from the Norton's Nook set. There is an organic farm near us. They have a rooster there. Now and then Tonya has posted a video of the rooster crowing in the morning. I made this card with her in mind. I hope she like it. (Inside it just says "It's Your Birthday!"
Rita used a border stamp from Stampin' Up! that hasn't been released yet. The set includes 3 borders: little birds, kittens and puppies. I had to do some serious searching to find something to use. I stamped the three chicks stamp twice on dsp. I'm not really happy with the result because they don't show up very well. Because of the card stock I wanted to use, I didn't want to stamp in black ink.

MINI CARD ON A CARD
Rita Holmes VIDEO from March 10th.
I made a second card reversing the use of the papers. I like the way they turned out. The only thing I don't care for is that they are not a card that can be displayed as easily since the card base is flat and not an open card.
