HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, SHERI & BILL

My friend Sheri from our Yahoo Group and her husband Bill  are celebrating their Anniversary today.  I hope they have a very special day.

I used a white A2 card base and then cut two pieces of coordinating card stock to cover the front.  A third coordinating piece was used to make the punched strip.  The white flower was made using the Spellbinders Daisy die set.  I punched a small circle of the patterned paper to use as the center of the flower.

BUTTERFLIES IN FLIGHT

One of the cards we made at the August SU Workshop used a technique that I had not used before.  We used a long acrylic block and colored the yellow, green and pink colors right onto the block using SU markers.  Then the acrylic block acted as the stamp and we "stamped" it onto a piece of white card stock.  It gave a watercolor affect.  Matching cardstock colors were used to punch the butterflies.  I haven't used this technique again yet, but I know I will.  I like it as a change.

USING PICTURE ON DESIGN PAPER

This was a really easy card to make.  I had a piece of double sided card stock and one side had a lot of images like this on it.  I simply cut out one of the images and mounted it on coordinating colors of card stock.  Then it was mounted onto a piece of an off white card base which had been run through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.

I also happened to have a Kanban stamp set that had ladies dressed similarly.  I stamped one of them on the inside of the card using VersaMark.  It makes a nice background for a sentiment to be added over the top.

ANNIE'S BIRTHDAY CARD

In August I made this card for a member of our Yahoo Group.  My friend, Annie, lives in Canada and since we were going to be gone most of September, I wanted to get this in the mail early for her birthday.  Well, I'm sorry to say it appears it never arrived.  Maybe it will in time for her next birthday.

The card base is Stampin' Up! Tempting Turquoise card stock and it was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I colored the parrots with my Copic markers.  I had a piece of glossy card stock that had been colored using alcohol inks and the colors matched the card stock so well so I used it as a middle layer.  The bottom layer is SU Green Galore cardstock.

I am having a little trouble getting back into a good routine after being gone for so long but am trying to get back to more regular posts.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

We love taking car trips.  This time we traveled over 5200 miles.  It was a fabulous trip but I am glad to be home again and grateful for being able to travel safely.  Living out of a suitcase for 3 weeks becomes a little old after a while.  Here are a few pictures showing the highlights of our vacation.

Mesa Verde in Colorado

Grand Canyon in Arizona (We went to the North and South Rim)

This male elk was right outside our room with a female and several young ones.

At the North Rim of the Grand Canyon we met Jaime Gomez from Spain

It's impossible to capture the beauty of Zion National Park.  Our next stop was Bryce Canyon but it was raining.  We had been there before so I wasn't real disappointed.  There are lots of spires formed by the rocks which are called Hoodoos........they almost look like a lot of funny statues.  It's the only rainy day we had the entire time we were gone.

In Salt Lake City there was a protest going on in the State Capital Buiding

We went to the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. How fun to see the ski jumps!

Antelope Island is a little North of Salt Lake City.  OK.....so this is a buffalo.  I do know the difference.  :)  We did see antelope and a coyote too but didn't get great pictures of them.

Lasting Impressions is where I used to purchase brass stencils and papers products for resale.  I visited there one other time but didn't get to meet one of the ladies that I talked to frequently on the phone.......Kaye Humphrey.

Our entire trip had been planned around being in Salt Lake City on a Thursday because that is when the Mormon Tabernacle Choir practices.  They normally practice from 8:00-9:30 PM.  The night we were there they practiced short bits and pieces of songs for 45 minutes.  Then at 9:00 they blessed us with a mini-concert until 9:30.  We were so fortunate because this was only the 2nd time all year that they had done this.  AWESOME!!!

El Capitan at Yosemite National Park

Our last site seeing was at Canyonland National Park and Arches National Park which are next to each other.  This picture is one of the many arches formed....the Sand Dune Arch.

ANOTHER ALL OCCASION CARD

Isn't this a cute jar of flowers?  We made these cards at the SU workshop.  The flowers were stamped and punched with a circle punch to add to the stems.  I like the way the white layer is angled under the Raspberry cardstock.

JUST FOR YOU

I just love this card! It is another one made at an SU workshop.  I know I'm going to use this layout and idea  on additional cards using other small designs and in other colors as well.

I don't think this needs a lot of explanation, but if you have any questions, just email me.

USING COORDINATING PAPERS

I recently purchased a paper pad that had coordinating tape and butterfly dimensional stickers.  I don't have the paper pad handy to tell you which one it was from but I combined three different papers and a strip of the tape before adding the Spellbinders Lacey Circle with the dimensional sticker on it.  I really love coordinating papers.  They make cards very easy to put together.

Questions can be sent to me at my email which can be found on the right side of my blog page.

MUSICAL BIRTHDAY WISHES

At the most recent Stampin' Up workshop that I attended, the hostess had supplies for all of us to make this very unique birthday card.  The keys were made with an SU punch and the large black layer was made with an SU die.  I think it is just too cute (and I can say that since it wasn't my idea).

If you have any questions, please post it in a comment and I'll be happy to get back to you.

I appreciate your comments so much!  Thank you for stopping by!

SUMMER DAISIES

OK, I didn't disappear completely.  I hope I haven't lost those of you who have been following my posts.  I guess we all need a little break now and then but it's time for me to start sharing some cards again.

It has been a while since I made this card so I'm sorry I can't tell you paper I used for the front of the card but it was cut to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 to fit the front of the white card base.  It believe it was from a paper pad because I used a coordinating paper for the squares which were cut out using a die from PapertreyInk.  I added these great little dimensional daisies to each square and added them to the front of the card.  The sentiment is from Paper Inspirations.

Right now I can't promise a posting every day but I will be trying to get back to some more regular posts.  Explanations will be made later.  :)  (So there is a little teaser.)

Thank you for stopping by!  Your comments are always appreciated!

One of the cards made on  this  vi.deo used this stamp from the Flowing Flowers set.  This isn't a two-step design and I wasn't sure...
