FIRST COMMUNION

I miss posting cards more regularly and hope to be back on a more regular schedule very soon.  Wednesday I made time to make three cards because this evening our granddaughter, Abby, is receiving the Sacrament of First Communion at church.  The cards below are ones I made for the two Great Grandmas and us to give her for her celebration. Our gift to her is a special necklace purchased for her while we were in Italy in March.

This is the card from us as her Grandparents
I've posted this style before since I like to use it for a lot of religious events.

This is the card from my Mother-in-Law to Abby

I now have both of the rooms in our home finished that we have been working on.  There still remains a few odds and ends to put back into place but for the most part it is done and I am very happy with the results of the "guest" bedroom.  The closing date for my mother's property is set for this next week but not sure if we're going to be able to meet that date due to a job that has to be complete before it can be approved.  We still have a few things to get out but the new owner is willing to give us some extra time for removing some articles.

PARDON MY ABSENCE

Out of necessity, I am going to be taking a few days without posting.  Sometimes life tends to tell us we need to slow down and not try to do "everything" at the same time. Last week I had a very minor melt down and a little pity party for myself so I guess that was a clue that I had my hands in too many things at one time.

I'm getting close to be finished dealing with the sale of mother's property but have quite a mess here in our own home now with the updating we are doing.  I'm also preparing items to sell at a stamping and scrapbooking sale the end of next week.

While I am dealing with these things, there may not be any posts for a couple of weeks, but I surely hope you will keep checking in and I promise I'll post things here and there if I have a chance to make a card.

I appreciate all of you who follow my page and those of you who leave comments.

In the meantime if any of you who check in on this blog live in the area this is the stamp sale where I will be taking a lot of stamps, stencils, etc.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Rubber Stamp Rummage Sale, Friday April 27 from 5 PM til 9 PM. Saturday April 28 from 8 AM til 3 PM. Grandview Community Center, 5410 Wabash Street SW, Cedar Rapids, IA. BABY LAMB FOR BABY CARD

I believe I mentioned on an earlier date that I am busy helping my mother since her move from the family home.  The sale has possibly been completed by now or will be soon but I have had my hands full.  A lot of small items and some furniture needed to be removed from the house and I am still working at that.  The buyer wants possession of the home by May 1 which doesn't leave me a lot of time to get the rest of the big items sold or a decision made of what to do with them.

In the midst of this I am crazy enough to take on putting new carpet in one of our bedrooms since I am taking a bedroom set from my mother's home and this is definitely the time to paint and put down new carpet.

So for the last few weeks I have been scheduling posts to appear in advance to keep my blog flowing.  Today and the next two days the cards will be very similar but I want to keep posts coming. The border on all three were made with a punch that someone had at our groups gathering last June.  I had several of these layers made since last June and discovered them in my basket of pieces.  They make such a great border!

WEDDING WISHES

Using the same embossing folder as yesterday's card, I mounted this cute little tag for a wedding card.

SU Stamp

The Workshop coordinator had one station set up with I think 8 different designs for us to color and mount on a coordinating piece of card stock.  They could be used for tags, but I decided to use them on cards instead.  With the tree design I used an embossing folder that had little birds on it which I thought went nicely with the design.

HE IS RISEN!

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!

This is the card that really caught my eye at the March 24 workshop I attended.  The colors and paper were probably my favorite right off.  It was a very simple card to make so I actually made three of them to send to family.  I think the dove would be a great die to use on a Confirmation or Wedding card as well.

P.S.  Sorry the picture had disappeared some time after I had scheduled this post.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEORGIA!

Recently I ordered and received the beautiful Cheery Lyn Designs die "Small Lace Faerie Queen".  It is so delicate but cut perfectly through the dp I used.  The three layers of green dp are from Memory Box.

I ran the front of the card through my Cuttlebug using a folder from Sizzix.  To follow through with a design from nature I thought the leaves were a good choice to go with the butterfly.

The two green layers were cut using Spellbinders Labels 11.  I attached the butterfly to the die cut layers by applying Diamond Glaze to only a few spots of the center of the design so that the wings were left free to give some dimension to the card.

Recently I have needed quite a few birthday cards.  This card was sent to my friend, Georgia, who is celebrating her birthday today.

EASTER CHCKS/EGGS (From Workshop)

For this card the eggs were punched with the SU Large Oval punch.  I layered the three on top of each other and cut the zig-zag edge to look like a broken egg shell.  The little chicks head was stamped using the bird's head with a light color, cut out and then flipped over so the stamped edge didn't show.  I thought this was a really colorful Easter card and so clever.

GREAT CARD FOR A LITTLE BOY

When I attended the SU Workshop I saw this card and had decided I wasn't going to make one because of all the pieces and I was afraid I wouldn't have time.  Things went so well with the other cards that I decided to give it a try because I knew it would be a perfect card to give our grandson although he won't get it until next February for his birthday.  And it was perfect because I was able to stamp the tractor in his favorite color -- GREEN.  They don't live on a farm but he does enjoy visiting his other Grandma too who does live on a farm.  She doesn't have animals but she does have a GREEN tractor.

THOMAS THE TRAIN LOOK ALIKE

I have a nephew in Minneapolis and a niece in the Des Moines area who both have little boys with May birthdays.  I made one of these for each of them at the SU Workshop.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOANNE!

It may be hard to tell from the picture, but today's post is an easel card.  A friend (Joanne) is celebrating a birthday today.  The picture is a bit muted in color.  I colored the Penny Black stamp with an SU marker Lovely Lilac and a Tombow green marker (#192).  Using a Quickie Glue Pen, I edged the flowers and leaves and then added Hero Arts Prisma Glitter.

The papers are from a Kaiser Craft "Lilac Avenue Collection" paper pad.

Happy birthday, Joanne!!! Thanks everyone for stopping by!

POPPED FLOWERS

I actually have this stamp so will be able to do this card at home and use different colors for the flowers and paper if I want.  The off white layer had already ben embossed so it was a little hard to stamp the designs on the paper, but we decided we kind of liked the look of it.  The flowers were stamped separately on off white paper - color being applied to the stamp with SU markers.

We cut a piece of off white card stock which was slightly smaller than the inside of the card and stamped just a small corner of the grass.  It made a nice "finish" to the inside of the card too.

Two more cards using the "All About Autumn" retired dsp. Thank you for coming by today!
