STAMPIN' UP! BLOOM WITH HOPE

The idea for this one definitely came from Pinterest.  I notice a little black spot on the petal of the flower but decided to go ahead and finish off the card.   I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the designs.  Once in a while I get a little speck like that from the fiber of the ink pad .

Tomorrow is the beginning of another new month!!!!  Where does time go?  Thank you for stopping by!

STAMPIN' UP! - Swallowtail Butterfly

Card #1

I hate to think how long ago I purchased this SU stamp!  I had used it at a workshop and fell in love with it.  I ordered it soon after and when it came it sat in my "hoard" (or should I say collection) of stamps.  I hadn't ever used it until now.  For August our group had a color swap which was Brown and Turquoise.  I stood over my collection of SU stamps and decided it was time to pull this one out.

I stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then colored it with Copic markers.  When I finished I found a smudge on the bottom edge of the larger piece I had cut so I trimmed it down and mounted it with foam squares.

Card #2

Actually I started off wanting to just make a one layer card.  The area was masked off with post-it notes and then stamped with the Swallowtail stamp.  I colored the design with Copic markers but inspite of using a heavy cardstock, I could see a hint of the color on the back side.  I decided to trim it down and add it with form squares to a new card base.

Card #3

After making Card #2, I thought it would be fun to do the same thing but have the butterfly in a window.  I didn't actually stamp the butterfly on the inside, but did it on the square that had been cut out from the front of the card base.  There is still room for a short sentiment inside and a signature.

I hope this has give you some ideas that could be used with other stamped designs.

Have a great weekend and be sure to stop back again next week!  Thank you for stopping by!

THINKING OF YOU - POPPY

I've had this Poppy stamp from Penny Black for a while but had never used it.  It really doesn't take much else to make a card with it due to the size of it.  I colored it with Copic Markers, added the sentiment and then matted it with black card stock.

BASKET OF FLOWERS

Today is my mother's 93rd birthday.  This isn't the card I'm giving her but wanted to mention her special day here even though she won't see it.

Using card parts from my basket always feels good.  A while ago I did make up several cards from pieces I found in my baskets (Yes, I have more than one basket of them).  The basket of flowers is actually made up from two separate stamps.  I stamped them off who knows how long ago at one of the gatherings we have in Des Moines each year.  I finally colored it with Copic markers, put it together and "sat" it on half of an SU doiley.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the background so I pulled out several large stamps.  I decided on the one with the stripes and inked it with SU Soft Suede ink which tended to blend well with the brown of the basket.

ALTERNATE LAYOUT FROM YESTERDAY'S CARD

For this card, I did have to trim down the width of the card so that there is no white margin   around the dp.  I saw the layout on Pinterest and loved how the little white piece was added for a mini sentiment.  The bottom edge was embossesd with a folder and a scored line added.  The butterfly is one of a set of two from PTI.  I really like this layout.

FOR MY FRIEND

Using a curved die from PapertreyInk, I cut this piece of Stampin' Up! designer paper and attached it to a top fold vertical card base.  I remembered having a little dimensional bird that was just the right color to add and then stamped the "For my Friend" with SU Baja Breeze ink.  The sentiment inside says "A little birdie told me today is your special day."

Our Yahoo group had the monthly "Artist's Choice" swap and this is the card I sent to my partner.

Tomorrow I will show another version using the same die and dp so I hope you will come back again then.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

ANNIVERSARY & BIRTHDAY CARDS

Today is the anniversary of one of my friends, Kris and her husband.  This is the card I sent them.  I hope they have received it by the time this post appears. The stamp is from Penny Black and was colored with Copic markers that go with the SU card stock I used.

Also, today our oldest granddaughter is celebrating her 17th birthday.  She has grown up way too fast.  She's a Junior in High School and keeps the family busy with her activities. Happy Birthday, Allissa!  I posted a card that my mother is sending her earlier but here it is again:

This week we are going to be entertaining her two youngest siblings - Taryn and Tucker. After I schedule this post, I am going to be scheduling cards for each day this week, but I may not have time to go back in and put any kind of description.  Just know that  you can leave a comment and ask any question you might have.  Then check back and I will answer your questions in a comment.

SPELLBINDERS - Feathers

I haven't used feathers for awhile.  I had a piece of watercolor paper that I had done with Color Burst powder inks and was going to die cut a feather from it.   Instead, I took a white piece of card stock slightly smaller than 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and cut a feather from it.  Then I ran that piece through the Cuttlebug with one ofmy embossing folders.

I attached the watercolored piece behind the white layer and then added it to the front of a white card base.  I added the white feather by using a piece of adhesive tape to the bottom and a foam square dot to the top of the feather.  It gave a nice dimension to the card.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you'll be back Monday.............

STAMPIN' UP! - Stippled Blossom

The design on the doily was an idea I got from Pinterest using these same colors.  However, I changed the background for the card by using SU dp.  The die cut sentiment is another change I made in my card.

Colors used were Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantalope, Old Olive and Pear Pizzaz.

PENNY BLACK - Pure Iris

Both were inked and then spritzed with water before stamping them on the card stock.

PENNY BLACK - Pop Pop Poppy

I colored the stamp with Distress Markers and then spritzed before stamping it on the card stock.

Without re-inking the stamp I stamped it one more time on a second piece of white card stock.  I love this stamp!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TARYN!

I did post this card earlier, but decided to post it again because my mother is sending this card to our Granddaughter, Taryn, who will be 8 years old on Sunday.  She is a sweetie!  I thought we were going to have her and her brother here Sunday night and for a couple of days but that got changed.  I already had a cake ordered for her to celebrate her birthday but rather than cancel it we're just going to delay it for the following week.  We'll have a belated birthday party here.

Thanks for stopping by!

OLD PENNY BLACK STAMP

I made a card similar to this for a card swap and then decided I would make a second one. I colored the stamp with markers and then spritzed it.  I stamped the full flower once and then without reinking I stamped the second one in the corner.  I wasn't real happy with how the image came out, but I decided to show it anyway.  When you ink an image and then spritz it you don't ever know for sure what you're going to get.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHERYL!

Sheryl and I met years ago (too many to mention) at Bible Camp.  We became friends and used to stay at each others houses in the summers after that,.  Time passed though and we kind of lost touch with each other, but have reconnected thanks to Facebook.  I don't have her address to send the card, but I'm going to post this on Facebook for her to see so that she knows I was thinking of her and still after all these years remembering her birthday.

I hope she is having a fabulous time today!

STAMPIN' UP! Field Flowers & Flower Shop

I actually made this card about two weeks ago but I already had other cards scheduled to post.

I saw the idea for this card on Pinterest and it was just too pretty not to CASE it.  This is a link to the blog for the Field Flowers Meets Flower Shop card that I saw.  The SU Flower Shop flowers are stamped onto Vellum with VersaMark and then heat embossed with white DP.  I used the coordinating SU punch to cut them out.  The stems for the flowers are from the SU Field Flowers stamp set.

I am pretty sure I'll be doing more cards similar to this but maybe using a pink, yellow or lavender colors for the flowers.  I really do like the white on white though!

Thank you for stopping by today!

MEMORY BOX - Maribelle/Selena Butterfly Dies

Yesterday I made this card and although I had something different scheduled to post today, I decided to change my mind.  I have always loved this large set of Memory Box butterflies but hadn't used them for awhile.  My friend Harriet made a card (I believe back in 2011) with these dies and I ran across it.  She had used a patterned paper as the solid background and for some reason that made me think of some Origami Papers that I had and never used. The top was cut with a textured gold foil paper.

I don't usually post items on Sunday anymore but if you didn't happen to stop by here yesterday, I posted a card for a Paper Players Challenge.  Thank you for coming by today!.

PAPER PLAYERS CHALLENGE #256

I don't usually post on Sunday anymore, but when I saw this challenge I thought I'd give it a try.

The challenge this week is to make a square card.  I used dies from PapertreyInk to make mine.  I love the mountains so this was a fun one for me to do.

Two more cards using the "All About Autumn" retired dsp. Thank you for coming by today!
