TULIPS IN WINTER???

A friend from Canada sent me some die cut tulips.  With the winter weather we are having the tulips were a ray of sunshine when they arrived in the mail.  I quickly added three of them to these cards.  The pink card above and the lavender card below are pre-folded note cards that I bought from Jo-Ann's several years ago.  When I choose to send them I will either add a sentiment on the front or possibly a white butterfly.

The red card below will definitely have something added to the upper right corner before I send it.

VALENTINE #3

I went to Pinterest to get some ideas for cards to send to men on Valentine's Day.  I ran across one using this cute little owl made with the Stampin' Up! punch.   I added the gold glittery moon which was cut using a Spellbinders circle die and then cutting out a portion to make it a crescent moon.

VALENTINE #2

My husband and I send holiday cards to around 20 citizens who used to live here in our community to let them know they are remembered.  This is the Valentine we will send this year to the ladies.  The pretty die cut is Memory Box Ornamental Heart Corner.  The two extra hearts from other die cuts were used to fill in the blank space.

I thought these cards were a little "girly" to send to the two men, so tomorrow I'll show you what I came up with for them.

VALENTINE #1

My friends and I like to get cards done early for the independent living center and the nursing home.  One of my friends was sick the day we wanted to do these.  She was missed!  Two of us managed to get 97 cards like the one above done in about 2 1/2 hours.  I always have things cut in advance so that helps a lot.

The border was made using a Martha Stewart punch which required punching the red card stock three times to get the entire width.  After punching 44 of the heart borders, I decided to just cut narrow red strips for the other 53 cards.

The cute little kitty is a Penny Black design.  I did color all of the hearts for the cards before getting together because I knew that would take some time.  The gray fur and pink ears and cheeks were colored the day we put the cards together.  Since the design was going to be matted Copic markers were used to color the image.

Thanks for coming by.

UPDATE on February 2, 2016 post

Someone asked about where I got the birds.  I don't have a way of contacting you directly so hope you see this.  The birds are circle from dies or a punch and the wings for 2 of the birds are from a Stampin' Up! punch.  Everything else was just cut from scraps.  I hope whoever asked about this may see this response.  :)

SIMON SAYS - MUM AND COSMO FLOWER FRAMES - 2 CARDS

This is the Mum Flower Frame die.  I cut it from a white piece that was 4" x 5 1/4".  My spray adhesive has become plugged so I had to very carefully add a narrow stream of glue around the edge to add it to the floral background.  I also put a dot of glue on my finger tip and brushed a bit under some of the petals on the right side of the design to make sure they didn't get caught on an envelope.  SU Crushed Curry ink really worked well with the color in the dp.

There was a second piece of the dp so I added the Cosmo Flower Frame to it.  Rather than add it to an A2 size card base, I added it to a 5" x 6 1/2" card base.  (I purchased the larger cards/envelopes pack from Michael's.)  I don't make a lot of cards this size, but some of my does are longer than I realized when I purchased them.

Of the two cards posted today, I really like the second one the best.  How about you?

Today the weather is REALLY COLD HERE!  I hope all of you are staying warm.  I don't plan on leaving the house!  Thank you for coming by today!

ONE MORE SIMON SAYS - Leaf Column card

This time I used the combination of SU Night of Navy and SU Baja Breeze for the pieces.  I decided to add the layer at an angle and for a Thinking of You card, I thought it was kind of fun.

SIMON SAYS - Leaf Column Background

I have had these dies for such a long time and never used them.  I really like the simplicity of the design.  Each die was purchased individually.  When I looked at the Simon Says site the dies are no longer available.  I used SU Baja Breeze for this card.

For this card I used the SU Marina Mist and SU Night of Navy.

STAMPIN' UP! - Wonderland

I love this stamp set!  I inked up the trees with Garden Green ink and stamped once on the left of the card white layer.  I inked it up again, stamped on the right side and then without reinking the stamp, I stamped it again in the middle.  The design was matted and added to the white base.

POPPY STAMPS - Gentle Leaf Collage

Over the weekend I cut several of this design using ivory/cream card stock.  The other two were pretty much identical to what I have posted in the past.  I decided to use the third one and mount it with foam dots on the same card stock.  I like it.  What do you think?

I'm trying to get back to making some cards and I do have some lined up for the next three days.  I hope you will come back again to check them out.

ALCOHOL INK LANDSCAPE

When two of our granddaughters visit, one of their favorite things to do is play with my alcohol inks and Yupo paper.  They have made some great backgrounds for me.

Recently I cut the die with the trees and deer and wanted to put an alcohol ink background behind it and started looking through the ones that I hadn't used yet.  I had forgotten about this one and it was perfect.  The "moon" was actually very close to the left side of the design but worked out to be in just the right place.  If I try to create a background like the one my granddaughter did, I'm not sure I'll be as lucky.

IMPRESSION OBSESSION - G16276

Another of the I. O. stamps that only include a Part # but no name otherwise.  This is a Tara Caldwell design.  I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic markers.  The sentiment is a stamp from Paper Inspirations.

When I use this design again, I believe I will cut it out with either a rectangle or oval die so that it can be matted and then added to the card base.

IMPRESSION OBSESSION - F20255

I have eight stamps from Impression Obsession and the only thing on the package to identify the image is a Part #.  Somewhere I did find a name for two of them but I cannot find the others. This flower is an Alesa Baker design.

I added a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white card stock which was embossed with a Darice "Crackle" folder to the white card base.  The image was colored with Copic markers, cut & then embossed with a Spellbinders oval die. The image was mounted on Stampin' Up! Lavender Lace card stock and then added to the card using foam dots.

TWO SUNNY CARDS

Both of the cards made below were made using a Whipper Snapper stamp.  I made these cards back in November but hadn't shared them yet and since I don't have anything else to offer right now, I decided to post them.  I sold the stamp but before doing so I stamped off several of them.  It's such a cute, happy design.

WINTER WINDOW

This is the card I sent to the couple who rent my mother's farmland.  If I had to do another one I would use a smaller die for the pine cones.

My husband and I are off to see "Vice".  Last week we went to see "Mule".  During the holidays we usually try to get to a couple of movies.

RING IN THE NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

(I used glossy gold card stock for the bells but it's really hard to get a good picture without shadows.)

Two more cards using the "All About Autumn" retired dsp. Thank you for coming by today!
