LET CHRISTMAS CARDS BEGIN

Well, things have quieted down somewhat next door with the building going on.  I got motivated over the weekend to get some Christmas cards ready to post. I'll start you off with one of the more simple cards.

This one was made using a Stampin' Up! die from the Ornament Keepsakes set.  I cut it from gold metallic paper.  There is also a "solid" ornament the same shape which I used to cut the "window" in the navy card stock.  After matting the navy layer with white, I inserted the gold ornament back into the window and added some tiny metallic ribbon.

The lower corner of the navy looks scuffed but it is just a reflection of light that I didn't catch in time.  I have a variety of holiday cards I'll be posting so I hope you will come back and check them out.

Thanks for coming back today.

I MAY BE ABSENT

There is a construction project going on directly across the alley from our house.  Three condominium units are being built and the noise is really getting to me.  The large trucks and other machines are constantly making those beeping noises when they back up.  Between the beeping and the pounding, I am having a really difficult time working in my computer/craft room.  It's pretty hard to concentrate and feel inspired.

The window in my room looks out on all of what is going on.  While it has been fun to watch some of the process, the noise has finally gotten to me.  So I may be absent for a few days while this goes on.

Please stay tuned because I do want to start posting Christmas cards very soon.....if I can get some made.

A POINSETTIA CHRISTMAS

I bought packages of these very pretty poinsettia dimensional stickers last year at half price. I bought 6 packages so we would have enough to make the Christmas cards for residents where my mother lives.  I used a 4" x 5 1/4"  piece of red foil for this card.  I didn't have enough of the red foil so we used red card stock as the mat instead.

I used the Memory Box Small Circle Burst die on a piece of white card stock - 3 3/4" x 5".  This piece was then embossed with a folder.  The die cuts out a solid circle from the center.  That solid circle was then cut again with a Spellbinders scalloped circle and added back into the design before attaching the sticker.  We made 44 cards like this.

VERY SIMPLE CHRISTMAS CARD

I have been trying to concentrate on using supplies that I have had for a long time.  When I found two packages of these green cards with green envelopes, I was determined to use them up this year.  I had purchased them at Michael's more year ago than I care to remember.

When my friends and I made Thanksgiving cards recently and also got the Christmas cards done for the staffs at two centers, this is the Christmas card we made for the nursing home.  The white card stock was embossed with this beautiful folder and added to the front of the card.  Doesn't get much easier than that!

Thank for coming by today!

JUST SAYING HELLO

Today I got to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with my mother at the independent living center where she lives.  The staff prepared a wonderful buffet and each resident was able to invite two guests.  I'm still hoping that she will join our family Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.

After having been gone for a lot of the day, I was tired when I got home.  It's about 9:00 PM and I hadn't scheduled anything for today so I am posting this very simple card.  I found the piece in my "parts tub".  The design had been stamped and colored.  I added the sentiment.  The corners were rounded on both pieces and then added to a card which was embossed with a Stampin' Up! folder.

Although I post this at 9:00 PM on November 20, you probably won't get it in your messages until November 21 at some time.  I'm not sure why there is a delay even when I schedule things for a specific time.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

2 THANKSGIVING CARDS #8 and #9

After glittering most of the designs from the Elizabeth Crafts peel-off stickers, I add some to card stock and colored them with Copic markers.  These were two individual pumpkins which I cut out and made the arrangement above.  The pretty Maple leaf was cut from a set of Prima Dies.

Ever since my mother and my mother-in-law have moved into an independent living center and nursing home respectively, we have realized just how many of the people in those homes are people that come from our community. It is our intent to let hem know that they are always remembered - especially at the holidays - so we have a list of 20 people that we send cards to in addition to the ones that we make for the staff members to hand out.

This is another version of the same card but using two other leaves from the Prima Dies.  I have one last Thanksgiving card that I will post on Thanksgiving Day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR GRANDDAUTER, EMMA!
