BUTTERFLIES & CASCADING CARD UPDATE

The Poppy Stamps "Bellina Corner" die has been in my "collection" for a long time but I don't remember ever using it.  When scrolling through butterfly cards on Pinterest, I found one that was made like this.  

Using three different alcohol inks, I swirled them around on a piece of Yupo paper.  I cut the die and then added the alcohol piece behind the negative portion of the white card stock (4" x 5 1/4").  I sprayed the die cut piece with an adhesive and then added it back into the "negative" piece.  There was a small piece of Yupo paper left so I cut the individual butterflies.  The piece was then popped on the white card base.

The card I CASED also added a sentiment in the white space - I'm not sure if I will or not.  Thank you for stopping by today!

UPDATE: A few days ago I posted a Cascading card that I made.  It's a little too thick for the standard A2 envelope.  I could use a larger envelope but decided to make a box for it. The video I watched showed how to make the box but the measurement were way too big for the size of the card so I scaled it down.

I think I'm going to make a new base because the card stock I used was a little too light weight.  When the lid is on, I'll tie it with a ribbon.  I think that will make a really fun way to present the card. In case you make a Cascading card and want to know how to do the box and I will try to come up with complete and concise directions for you.

ALCOHOL INK BACKGROUND

It had been a long time since I had played with the alcohol inks.  I wanted something to use as a background for this die cut.  I think it works well with the design but I actually think the granddaughters come up with better pieces by accident.  The green works well for the "grass" but the orange and yellow were just to "defined".

I matted the piece with SU cardstock and then attached it to a card base (5" x 6 1/2") with foam squares.  Thank you for stopping by! 

DANCE RECITAL

Tonight we will be attending the dance recital where two of our granddaughter will be performing.  Ashlyn is a Senior and will be doing a "solo" dance.  During that performance her younger sister will be joining her for a portion of it.  This year we will be giving Ashly roses instead of the spring bouquet along with the card above.

 Each of our granddaughters will receive one of these cards to commemorate the dance they perform together.  Actually there will be a second dance that they will be participating in at the same time.  I'm not sure what the name of it is but it is very emotional.   The big sister is dancing and then the little sister comes out of a box joining in.  I've always gotten teary watching them but tonight there will be a supply of Kleenex on hand.

We have watched Ashlyn dance since she was a little girl.  One year she announced that she wanted to quit and we are so grateful she continued through her Senior year.  Younger sister is a real Diva and loves performing in front of people so I have no doubt that she will continue on through her Senior year.  At least we sure hope so.

ROSE DIE

I think this would be a great card to give a couple who are celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary.

TRI-FOLD CARD

The die cut flowers were one of the many "pieces" that have been on my table for a long time.  The Cuttlebug die is an Anna Griffin design "Flower Vine".  I've had it for several years so I'm not sure if it is still available.

First, I embossed the center section of the tri-fold card with the Swiss Dots folder.......the card has a pre-cut oval.  Next I added the floral piece with a portion of it extending to the outside of the card.  I tacked down pieces with a dot of Tombow glue.  The vellum was added to the inside and then the right panel of the card was taped down.

I'm not sure how this card will be used but I am thinking of possibly an anniversary for a friend.  Thanks for coming by today!

GRADUATION TABLE DECORATION

Two years ago I made pieces for table decorations.  This year we have two granddaughters graduating high school.  The jar is wrapped with burlap and silk sunflowers were added.  There is also a little pick in there that has a clothes pin to add a Senior picture.  All I had to do was add the piece above.  The "celebrating graduate" is from an Impression Obsession die.  I added it to an oval cut from silver glitter paper.  Then I matted the piece with the blue which is one of the school colors.  The sunflowers pick up the other school color of "gold".  

The pieces were easy to make double sided so that there wasn't a bad view of them.  I also made half of them with 2019 on them.

CASCADING CARD

I have to admit it took me several tries to get the base for this card made.  The first two tries were choosing the wrong papers and then the third time I messed up on cutting the slits to put it together.  It probably wasn't the best project to try when I have full blown allergies..........but i did finally get it.  The next time it should go much faster.  I'd love to be able to make a couple of graduation cards using this technique because we have two granddaughters graduating high school this spring.  If I manage to get something made up, I'll be sure to post it or them.

I plan to add a banner across the front wishing a friend of my mother a Happy 102nd birthday.

The best thing I can do is to refer you to YouTube.com for videos that give instructions for making one of these.  There are several and some use a little different measurements but basically the same idea.
