THANK YOU CARD

Following the storm that moved through Iowa, some citizens in our small town stepped up to help out with food.  One night there were people at the baseball diamond serving grilled hamburgers and hotdogs while at the fire station others were handing out other sandwiches.  We had food so we didn't take advantage of that.  The next night there was a group that gathered at the fire station once again and grilled hamburgers and brats.  There were a lot of other items to go with the sandwiches as well.  We did go to that one just to get out of the house and see how some other people were doing.

The food for the second night was donated by several people from the community, the Salvation Army, and HyVee. One of the ladies involved made the comment that when they thought they were going to run out, it was unbelievable how more food just kept showing up.  It reminded me of the "fish and loaves of bread" from the Bible story.  She gave me a list of the people who had donated and I sent Thank You cards to them.  People really stepped up!

On a third night about a week later there were two young men who grilled BBQ ribs and a supper was made available once again for members of the community....especially for those who had volunteered in clean up and in other ways.  I used to know nearly everyone in town but that's not the case anymore.  However it was so reassuring to see the community pull together and there is the same spirit that has been here as long as we have lived in this little town.

Thank you for coming by today!

What a simple and wonderful Thank You card, Vicki! So awesome to have such community spirit - and generosity! And so nice of you to recognize them.

So cool to read about the community spirit that prevails in your little town. I grew up in a small town, too, and I know how everyone can come together for the greater good. It was so nice of you to send those thank you cards, too. I love the one you shared--simple, but elegant.

I had a square of the Cheerful Daisy dsp and a scrap of the Pebbled Path dsp.  I die cut the daisies pieces and added them to the book binde...
