STAMPIN' UP! - Hand Penned Flower

One of the card kits I made up for my friends to make with me a while ago was the few pieces to make this card.  I had 4" x 5 1/4" pieces of white card stock cut for the inside and one of my friends decided to place that piece under the scalloped layer so the white showed through.  I really liked that idea but had mine already attached.  The next time I will remember how that helped show off the scalloped edges.

GIVING THANKS

The day my friends and I worked on Halloween cards we were finished quickly enough that we got started on Thanksgiving cards.  The stamp set is "Split: Giving Thanks" from PapertreyInk.  The images were all stamped on a 2 3/4" x 4" piece of card stock.  A 1 1/4" x 5 1/8" inch of Pumpkin Pie card stock was added to the center of the card base and then the stamped and colored images added on top.  The next time we got together we finished them.  We made between 90-100 of them.

SILHOUETTE DIE and SCRAP PCS

A few days ago I posted a card using this stamped frame die with the Happy Birthday sentiment as part of the stamp.  I had two left over pieces of black and white paper so I quickly put this card together.

STAMPIN' UP! TAILORED TAG PUNCH

Since I am away from home, you can check out this type of card on YouTube by searching "Stampin' Up! Tailored Tag Punch."  They are really fun to make. This one is on a 6 1/2" x 5" card base.

USING PIECES ON MY TABLE

I believe the alcohol ink piece on this card was rescued from a card I received from a friend.  It was just too pretty to not get used on a card for someone new to see.  The lavender butterfly was also on my table so I put the two together.  Quick and easy!

CARD FROM CARD CLASS

Recently I signed up for a card class.  Different ways to use card stock was the theme. I placed a stencil over the ivory layer and stenciled Crumb Cake Ink over the design.  I then embossed it with clear embossing powder.

STAMPIN' UP! - Texture and Frames

The stamp set I used for the stamped circles is one of the "Free" items with Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration.  If you order $50 from Stampin' Up! before September 30, you can get this set.  The leaves are from the retired Gently Falling set.  I used the same colors that I used on yesterday's card.

STAMPIN' UP! - 2 Cards Using Gently Falling Stamps

It's that time of year when the leaves start to show off their beautiful autumn colors.  I saw a card on Pinterest that was kind of like what I came up with.  I used Garden Green, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze inks and papers.

CASING MY FRIEND, KRIS

Originally I had CASED this card a couple of years ago when I saw one that Kris had made.  When I was making up kits for when I got together with my friends, this was one that I thought they might enjoy too because I knew they liked black and white cards.

The tree die is from Simon Says and I think the little Cardinal is from Impression Obsession.  It looks like I got my tree added just a little crooked.  :(

Fun Fold Card

FUN FOLD USING HAND-PENNED DSP & STAMPS

This was another card I made with my friends. They had seen one I did earlier and wanted to make one too.  It's really a fun one to make and not difficult at all.    I have the video of it saved on YouTube and can let you know which one it is.  Just leave a comment on the post and I'll look it up.

2 MORE COLOR AND CONTOUR FLOWERS

This is one of the cards that my friends and I made about a month ago.  On the second card I stepped it up slightly by wrapping a white ribbon around the narrow strip of dsp.

FUN CUTS OF DSP AND CARD STOCK

There is actually a 4th card but I had sent it before getting pictures.  I'm sorry I forgot to make a note of the measurements and the way this is cut from a square piece of designer paper.  If you want instructions, please leave a comment and I will research how this was done.

STAMPIN' UP! - Color and Contour

I nearly forgot to post something today.  Normally I schedule cards for the week over the weekend, but that didn't get done this week.

The card base is a simple white card stock.  The lavender dotted dp is actually half of an old note card that I cut in half to use as a mat.  The Color and Contour flower was cut out and colored.....then added to a stamped frame.  The stamped frame is one I've had for a long time so I stamped it off several times, trimmed them and now the stamp is in a box ready to go to a new home.

PATRIOT'S DAY - I

Where were you that day?  Most of us will never forget where we were on that terrible day. I remember exactly where I was standing. September 11 is my birthday.  Weather was perfect that day so we invited my mother to join us for just a fun car trip to some sites right here in Iowa.  We had been watching Good Morning America and were just ready to shut the TV off as we were leaving when there was a report of the first plane hitting one of the towers.  At that point my husband and I assumed it was a horrible accident but as the day unfolded the horror of it hit us hard.

In 2002 we visited the site where Flight 93 went down outside Shanksville PA.  The emotion of being there was so strong that I couldn't speak.  A farmer who lives very close by told of how his cattle went into the woods and wouldn't come out for days.  Since then we have visited two more times to see how the memorial has grown.  It is beautiful!  We were also determined to see the memorial in New York and did that a few years ago.  It is also a beautiful memorial to all those lives lost.

Twenty years later and this day still brings tears to my eyes as I see reports on the news.  This year seeing the video of Diane Sawyer and mothers trying to get babies (born after 9/11) together for a photo brought smiles and some laughter.  Then this morning they also showed some of them 20 years later all grown up and how some of them truly resemble the fathers who were lost in 2001.

My heart will forever ache for the families who lost loved ones on that horrible day and for the brave police and fire fighters who worked so diligently on the rubble afterwards trying to find survivors.  The last survivor was pulled out after 27 hours.

We will never forget!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAMIE

Sunday will be the birthday of our daughter, Jamie.  She's had a rough year so I wanted to make a special card for her.  I made this one at the same time I made the one yesterday.  I thought the colors were so pretty together and appropriate for Fall.  Once I had it finished, I knew this is the one that Jamie would receive.

BIRTHDAY CARD

When my mother lived in the independent living center, she found out she shared the same birthday as the lady across the hall.  That lady happened to be the wife of a former dentist we had gone to.  We had always liked them so each year since we discovered her birthday was August 26 like my Mom, I have sent her a card.  Mother passed in April, but I will continue to send a card to Mary Lou.

ANOTHER PERSONALIZED BIRTHDAY CARD

Recently I had an order for three birthday cards.  I was given some things the parties were interested in.  This card was for a retired teacher who also loves the Iowa Hawkeyes.  One of our granddaughters had attended Iowa and I still had some black and gold papers from that time.

I had dies for numbers with a "candle" on the top of them so I thought I would try to make the front of the card look like a layered cake.

The card base measures 6 1/2" x 5" when folded.  It is from a package of card bases & envelopes sold by Michael's.  They are a little light weight and when the outside is layered, it helps give the inside stability by adding some layers inside as well.  I punched some balloons and added them to layers that I inserted to make the inside a little more decorative.

90TH BIRTHDAY CARD

Recently a man who used to live in our town celebrated his 90th birthday and we wanted to let him know we were thinking of him.  I decided on a "book binder" type of card.  Flowers didn't seem to be appropriate for him but I still have papers from the SU Forever Greenery designer series pack.  After I finished the card I thought it almost looked like something for St. Patrick's Day with all the green and white.

CARD CLASS - Torn strips heart

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

This was the second card I made using this method.  My first try didn't work out as well although it is usable.  The torn pieces on this one do look a little crooked in the picture.  I did run pencil marks down the areas I wanted to tear but still got it a little off.

STAMPIN' UP! - Whole Lot of Lovely designer series paper

The designer paper I used on this card is retired.  I hadn't ordered the paper pack but did get some from a friend.  This piece is my very favorite.

STAMPIN' UP! - Plaid Tidings designer paper

This was a simple card to make using a punch to quickly come up with a variety of trees.   Below I used the same papers and added 5 trees instead of 3.

STAMPIN' UP! - All is Calm designer paper

Welcome to a little Christmas in September!

It's a little early, but a few weeks ago I saw a card on Pinteret using this basic design.  I love shades of blue and I still have some of the retired All is Calm designer paper.  Good chance to use "something old".........or is that just for weddings.  Anyway, I really like the way this one came together.

Thank you for coming by today!

And here are the final four cards you get from  this  video by Karen Titus.    I may try to do this with some papers from some other collect...
