To end July, I'm showing you a fun fold card.  Rita Holmes showed how to do this.  It's a very easy card to make and provides a fun surprise to the person receiving it.

I saw someone make a quilted card using the "Fancy Floral" dsp, so I grabbed mine.  I was surprised to hear her say she really didn't like the pack of designs, but once she had her card made she was quite pleased with it.  I have always loved the papers.  The SU "Tufted" embossing folder I used for this one really worked well.

Goodbye to Flower & Field dsp!!!  These are the final cards from the Flower & Field dsp papers.  The two cards in a horitontal layout were cased from ones Jan Musselman had made.

The next package I'm working on using up is "You're A Peach".  You'll be seeing those cards soon.

Why not use some of the smaller pieces for the quilt cards I've been working on?
Both of these cards are using papers from the Flower & Field dsp.

I had this one last piece of this design.  When I added it to the black card base, I didn't know where to go from there.  It definitely needed a "lift".  I really like the results.

I am on a mission to use the last of some of the designer papers I have. l Be prepared to see a lot of cards over the next 5 days from this Flower & Field pack of dsp. The paper is now GONE!

This was an easy layout!  The dsp is 3 x 4. The mat 3 1/4 x 4 1/4.  For two of the cards I did cut a piece measuring 4" x 5 1/4" the same color as the card base.  I embossed that layer to give a little more interest to the cards.  The "Note of Thanks" card does not have that layer.

I wish I could find where I saw a card basically like this.  I simplified some of the layout. The paper is "Thoughtful Journey" and the die cut is from the coordinating dies.  I liked the idea of taking a square cutting it diagonally and using it behind the focal point.

Thank you for coming by today!

NOTE:  My friend, Lynette just reminded me where I saw this card.  I follow Wanda Pettijohn and she made a card like this.  (Sorry, Wanda, for not remembering.)  I need to remember to make notes of where I see these cards and who made them.

One last quilt card for now.  There are still patterns I want to give a try, but those of you who do check out my posts may want to see something else.  Not everyone is into quilting although you may have friends who quilt with fabrics and would love to get a card designed for them.

I took these paper from an OLD 12 x 12 paper pad where you tore the sheets out of the pad................now they make these in 6 x 6 loose sheet packs.

For measurements and directions check out Nancy Novak's VIDEO.

Thank you for coming by today!  I promise no more quilts for a while.

I saw this card on Pinterest by Kathy's Act of Random Stampin' using these papers for this design.  I have the papers and decided it would be fun to make.  I did change the layout and used a different embossing folder for the "quilting".  This pattern uses a combination of squares, and two sizes of triangles. The papers are from a pack that coordinated with some dsp for Valentine's Day.  I intend to make a block with a quilted heart.

I used the same two papers for these cards but reversed the colors for the star.  I forgot to make a note of what the name of this pattern is.  I really like it and it is another fun one to make.  It takes a little patience cutting and attaching small pieces but I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

The card on top is a book binder card.  As you can tell, I have become addicted to making these.  This is by far my favorite style.  It's quick and easy and such a fun way to combine four different designs of dsp.  Just go to YouTube and do a search for quilt cards.  There are a lot videos there to help get you started.

When my sister asked me to make more quilt cards for her, I wanted to try to use different papers for these than the ones I had given her in March.  She thought a few with Christmas papers would be great so these are two of sets she will be getting this time.

I'm seeing all of these fun designs for Quilt cards and challenging myself to give them a try.  Julie Heitz has a VIDEO on YouTube that gives very good directions if you would like to give it a try.  This was a design called "Old Mill Wheel".   This was my second try making one.  I didn't quilt it but kind of wish I had.  It looks pretty plain.  I do think another choice of dsp and a colored background would make a big difference.

I debated about showing you my first experiment but though it might help you if you decide to give it a try.

If you decide to try this pattern, grab some old dsp that you don't like or are no longer using.  I grabbed this design which, as you can see, is directional.  After I had it all assembled, I realized that I could have had the papers all going in the same direction, except for the two in the center.  To accomplish that I would have had to punch an extra circle.  If I make more of this design, I will be more mindful of the papers I choose.

As I said yesterday, the papers for this "quilt" card are also from the Earthen Elegance collection of dsp.  It's a fun pattern to do although I'm not happy with the papers on this one.  It seems a little "dark".  When using double sided dsp though you have to be really careful getting the piece added correctly.....as I later found out on a second card and messed up.  See below.....

The two "green" squares are wrong.  I mistakenly added glue to the side that was supposed to be showing.

I think I might give this pattern a try again but just use all but the largest squares.  I could then mat it and use a layout much the same as many of my other quilt cards.

Card #3 from Terri Gaines video

While I had this dsp on my table I made a card using a "quilt" pattern I saw on Facebook.  I'll show it to you tomorrow.

Card #1

T

Today's card and the ones for Tuesday and Wednesday were made after watching THIS video from Terri Gaines.  I had the paper from this Earthen Elegance collection but had a hard time making those first cuts into it.  My card yesterday helped get me going.  It turns out that it is really fun to work with.

I saw this card by Lori Willcox on Pinterest and just copied what she had done.  I love the color combination.   My card base is Pecan Pie.  The Pretty Peacock pieces and the smaller square were cut from sheets in the Earthen Elegance pack of papers. I used the Earthen Textures stamps and dies for the die cut pieces.

I forgot to write down who inspire this card.  I wasn't able to locate the post on Pinterest or the video if that is where I saw it.  I'll try to describe and give measurements here.

Card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4".
I trimmed off 1/2" from the right edge of the front.

The mat for the dsp is 3 5/8" x 5 1/2"

Starting with a 6" x 6" piece of  dsp, I cut a piece 4" x 5 1/2".  From that piece I trimmed off 3/4" on the right side.  (Save the remaining 2" strip you have left because it works great for other layouts.)

The 3/4" strip was added to the inside of the card and shows when the card is closed.  It gives the appearance of the continued pattern.

I hope these directions make sense.  I realize that those who do videos are very skilled at getting these things explained to us.  I don't think I'd be successful in making videos or writing the .pdf's afterward.

Set #4

It's difficult to see on this picture, but the white 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white card stock was embossed with a brick folder.

For this one, I forgot to make it a top fold so I wasn't able to cut the strip on the left side like on the other sets.

After seeing these four sets of cards, do you think you will give it a try?  It was fun to do and quickly use two sheets of the dsp and have 5 cards!

I like the simplicity of this type of card but I'm not thrilled with how mine turned out.  Sunnyday Stamping is the demonstrator on YouTube who showed a card using these stamps from the Stampin' up! Nature's Prints stamp set.  I think I used the same colors as she did but not happy with mine.  I think the sentiment I used was possibly a little too over powering done in black.  I may give it another try.

Set #3

I'm not sure if I am happy with the "green" die cut piece on this last one.  It might have been better without it.

Thank you for coming by today!  Tomorrow I will post the set made with the Meandering Meadows dsp.

Set #1

Robin Armbrecht had THIS video showing how to pick two 6 x 6 sheets of dsp to make these cards.  It works great for the Thoughtful Journey collection.  I made three sets of these cards using different sheets and I will show them in the next couple of days .  Then I did a set using the Meandering Meadows dsp which I will also then post here for you to see.  At the end of the video Robin did show it using other papers as well.

With the way the papers were cut and used, this card definitely needed something further so I added the die cut sprig.

This top fold card is done on a card base that is 11" x 4 1/4".  A narrow piece is then cut from the bottom to the top fold, embossed and then glued down.  Only the section with the dsp opens.

It's a little hard to see on this one, but there are three embossed strips of card stock under the focal point.

I like this layout.  Check out the video and give it a try.

Two more cards using the "All About Autumn" retired dsp. Thank you for coming by today!
