I CASED THIS CARD

This has been another tough week.  The husband of a  friend of mine passed away and it has affected all of us on our Yahoo Group once again.

I was having a really hard time getting any kind of inspiration going so I decided to read some of my emails.  One of them was for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #200.  I saw some great cards there but really loved  this one by Rae Harper-Burnet:

PPA200 CELEBRATION

I realized that I had the stamp that made the speckled background in the Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. The flower is from the Peaceful Petals stamp set and works well so I cased her card.  I made a couple of changes in mine so that it would not be identical to hers.  Mine will not be posted on the PPA200 challenge.

First of all I took a piece of white card stock and stamped the "splattered" design over the entire background.  I used one of the dies I have had for a long tme and not sure I had ever used before.  The flower is from the SU Peaceful Petals stamp set.  The inks and colored card stock I used are Perfect Plum.  Before adding the layers to the front of the white card base, I decided to emboss the front and chose the folder with the random raised dots which I think complimented the "splattered" stamped background.

I hope you like the card.  Take a moment to visit the PPA to see some really great creations.  And be sure to visit Rae's blog for some wonderful projects.
