DRAGONFLY GARDEN

I hadn't used this set very much and when I ran across THIS card, I decided to make one similar.  I didn't have the same "script" stamp but used one I have had for years that is from My Sentiments Exactly.  Two dragonflies were added with dimensionals since I didn't have room for the stamped sentiment.   I then matted my layer with the stamped design to add more color.

CUTTLEBUG - Flower Vine Die

I bought this die in Des Moines several years ago.  I haven't used it a lot but I do love it.  It seems as though I haven't used many of my supplies that aren't Stampin' Up! so I pulled this one out a few days ago.  The embossing folder is also from Cuttlebug.  

I searched Pinterest for something different than what I have done with it in the past.  I found one that obviously was made on a larger card HERE.  I stick to making A2 size cards nearly all of the time; and although the die cut piece dominates the front of mine, I do like it.

Initially I had colored it with the Light Old Olive on the leaves and Light Flirty Flamingo on the five smaller floral area.  I only added So Saffron to the centers of the white flowers.  I was not happy with it!  Then I pulled out the Light Petal Pink and Light Mint Macaroon.  I was match happier with this one.

USING DSP STRIPS

It is really fun to make this type of card.  Using up strips of dsp from leftover projects is a great way to use them up and not let the scraps go to waste.  I made this card over a month ago but I believe I used 1/2 inch strips for this card.

SU HAND-PENNED FLOWERS DSP

Today we are going to be celebrating my husband's sister's 60th Wedding Anniversary!  Their family and ours will all be together for the first time in quite some time.  Weather has finally "cooled off" a bit so it should be a great day!

A few days ago I posted a card like this using the lavender combination.  I like it done with the blue as well!

SU EARTHEN TEXTURES STAMP SET

I got so wrapped up in making Christmas cards today that I almost forgot to have a Friday post!  My count is up to 181 cards now. I was told the Veterans Home currently has 326 residents so I am easily going to have more than enough in time for them.  This is what I call having fun!

FUSSY CUT FLOWER FROM WONDERFUL WORLD DSP

Yesterday I spent the day finishing off a lot of Christmas cards by adding the sentiment inside.  My stack is really growing!  I had about 40 that were already complete but at last count yesterday I now have 104 Christmas cards completed for the Iowa Veterans Home.  And I remembered that I had an abundance of leftover cards from last year.  Today I will spend going through them and finishing them off if they need something.

Today's card features a die cut flower from the Wonderful World dsp that was FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 order.  This card was sent to a friend of ours just a few days ago.

PETAL PARK STAMPS AND PUNCH

I think I mentioned on one of my posts that I have been donating all of my extra cards (which is a lot) to the Iowa Veterans Home.  I already have enough cards made to show for part of September so I have decided to see how many Christmas cards I can get done and delivered to the Veterans Home in time for them to use for Christmas.  Yesterday, I was able to make 24 cards beginning to end and also add some sentiments to cards that were already started.  I'll get a count of what I have so far and try to remember to update you on how I'm doing.  SO.....because I really want to concentrate on that project, the posts on my blog will hopefully continue to show cards that I have made recently like below but will probably have very little explanation.  Eventually I will show you cards that I am making for the Veterans Home.

I saw THIS video on YouTube and really liked the card.  My first try is a little washed out.  I was a lot happier with my second card below.

AWASH IN BEAUTY DSP

AWASH IN BEAUTY

This was a fun card to make.  The panel of dsp is from Awash in Beauty collection.  I cut out the large flower and leaves from another sheet.  The flower was added with a foam square lace in the middle and then two smaller ones on the leaves.  I used the "postage stamp" punch for the sentiment.  It is adhered only to the right panel and then tucked under the flower to help close the card.  I'm close to having all of this dsp used up.  YAY!

FANCY FLORA DSP - 2 cards from one sheet

Most of the cards you see on my blog have been made up to 2 months ago.  I believe this piece of dsp is 3 3/4" x 5" and was cut from a 6 x 6 piece of the pattern. That left 2 1/4" strip to use on the card below.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMMA!

Three of our five granddaughters have birthdays in August........the 9th, 17th and 19th.  Emma is celebrating her 22nd birthday today.  When I had just finished making this card it was on my craft table and Emma happened to stop by.  She commented that she loved the paper so I automatically put the card aside to give her today.  As you can tell in t first picture, the left panel tucks under the panel with the daisies.

Emma has completed part of her college education and will be continuing at the University of Iowa this fall.  She has goals for herself and we know she is going to do well!

ALLISSA'S BIRTHDAY CARD

 Sunday I shared that we were meeting our granddaughter to wish her a Happy Birthday in person.  It was great to be able to have that time with her and hear all about what she is learning in her current rotation to become a PA.  I believe she has a very bright future ahead of her.

This is the card that I made especially for her.  It is modeled after one that I saw Susan Campfield make.

FAVORED FLOWERS -Sympathy Card

At the time I took a picture of this card, I had not decided how I was going to use it.  The son-in-law of one of my classmates was killed in a tragic accident.  The son-in-law's young daughter died in the accident as well.  I added a sympathy sentiment in the lower right corner and wrote a personal note inside.

3 INKED BOTANICAL DSP CARDS

Our granddaughter, Allissa, will celebrate her 25th birthday this coming Thursday.  She is living in Chicago now so we won't get to see her as often.  Since she is passing through on her way back to the big city,  we are going to meet her for an early dinner at Olive Garden just off I-80.  We get to deliver her birthday card (with $ inside) in person.  (Her birthday card will be posted on August 17th.)  She loves it when I give her chocolate chip cookies, so I baked a batch yesterday.  She's in her final 3 1/2 months of rotations and study to become a PA.  We're so proud of her.

The photo on this one makes it look like the sentiment is cut out.  Actually it is popped up.

This one looks like a fancy fold but it isn't.

USING RINGS OF LOVE DSP

The Rings of Love dsp was one of the FREE items from Sale-A-Bration.  I was not thrilled with it when I got it but I am determined to use at least part of it.  I ran across some cards made with this layout and decided to just get at it.  On the second card, I fussy cut the house and then fussy cut a little tree to put beside the house.  I'm not sure what I'll do with the rest of the paper.  Before discarding them, I'll look for more ideas and maybe I'll find more uses.

 

SU INKED AND TILED

A really simple card to make which I believe I CASED from Sharon Armstrong.  I am really loving this set that I didn't think I needed.  I've already made several cards using it.

This past Tuesday my friends came and we worked on the kits I had made up.  I was actually surprised that we got all of them made up.  Granted the pieces are all cut and ready to assemble, but we got 17 cards done in about 3 hours.  Considering that we do a lot of visiting at the same time, we did a great job!  I already have a lot of cards in line to show on my blog, but you will be seeing what we made starting September 1st.

STAMPIN' UP! - You're A Peach dsp

The trouble with making so many cards and scheduling over a month later is that I can't find a link to the video for directions.  This is a very simple layout but there was a fun tip about making the "banner" cut at the bottom of the one piece.  When I saw the video, I decided it was another great way to make five cards and use up some of my Peach dsp.

The video showed using dragonflies from Stampin' Up!  I couldn't find mine at first so I used dies from Penny Black.  Then I found my SU dragonflies and made two of them for the final two cards.

The papers used are from the "Countryside Inn" collection.  I'm a big fan of "blue" so this was a must for my "hoard" of papers.  I modeled my card after one I saw on Pinterest but made some minor changes.  I love the sentiment!

SUNSHINE & RAINBOWS

I am getting "desperate" (well maybe eager) to use up some of these papers that I thought I had to have.  In my "eagerness" to get papers from this and other collections used up, Pinterest provides inspiration for getting some cards made up very quickly.  

This was one design I found on Pinterest and thought it was fun.  You'll be seeing more cards over the next three days.  The cloud dies I used are not from Stampin' Up! but I had a couple of dies from PapertreyInk that worked just fine.
