The dsp I used on this is from an "In Color" set of 6 x 6 set of papers.  I thought I had to have it but have not use it very much.   I saw a card like this on Pinteret.  That card had used Moody Mauve ribbon but I don't have that one so I took a strip of Moody Mauve card stock and embossed it.  I really like the combination of Pebbled Path and the Moody Mauve.

Thank you for coming by today! It's hard to believe four months of 2024 are coming to a close!

Recently Rita Holmes had another great card but she was using the new Thoughtful Journey dsp.  My paper hadn't arrived yet so I made do with some of the New Horizon paper that I still have.  The deer are not from Stampin' Up! but I thought the size of them worked well and I like their shapes.

I also decided to make a horizontal version which is very simple but the paper basically make the card.

BTW, on May 11, you will be able to see my card and the card that Rita made.  After each video she draws a name or names for the cards that she makes that day.  I was a lucky one to win hers so it will be posted the same day as mine.  (As I make cards, I take photos and schedule them in a folder to post on a later date.)

I had a square of the Cheerful Daisy dsp and a scrap of the Pebbled Path dsp.  I die cut the daisies pieces and added them to the book binder card with dimensionals.

On April 16 I posted a card using the 1" squares in this manner.  The post also includes a link to the video that I had watched.  After making the first card, I remembered the "critters" from "Playing in the Rain" dsp pack and though it would make a cute card so this is what I made.  I also decided to use 1 1/8" mats for the 1" squares.

Thank you for stopping by today!

And here are the final four cards you get from this video by Karen Titus.

I may try to do this with some papers from some other collections.  They are quick and easy.  You really don't even have to make the entire set of 11 cards.  By looking at the samples and seeing the measurements she has on her "pattern" you just make the ones you want.

From the pattern on this video you will get two cards with this layout.  These are mine.

Using the pattern from this video referred to yesterday, you will get just one of this card.  Karen Titus added her squares right to the card base.  I liked it a little better with the pieces separated a bit and matted.  Come by tomorrow for two more cards with a different layout which is great to use for all kinds of occasions.

A great way to use up sheets of your designer series papers is to do One Sheet Wonder patterns.  This one was a little different because you take 2 sheets and cut them in half.  You then just use half of each of the sheets which gives you four different patterns to work with.  (Full directions can be seen here in Karen Titus's video.)   These are four of the cards using the patttern.  In total you will get 11 cards!  The other three layouts will be posted tomorrow through Friday.

I'm not sure which video I watched on this one, but I think it might have been one of Sharon Armtrong's Mystery Monday Stamping presentations.  This is a Double Z-fold and there are a lot of videos on YouTube to make one.

More retired dsp used!!!  Thank you for coming by today!

Directions are too hard to explain so I will refer you to Rachel Tessman's video from a year ago.  Even though I thought it was easier for  you to see the video, it isn't a hard card to make.  This was definitely a new fold and way to use dsp.

I actually made a third one but wasn't happy with it and decided not to share.  The main thing is to have dsp that has coordinating designs on both sides.  Give it a try.

Jackie Bolhuis had a video a few weeks ago using these little birds. All of these use the layouts use a strip of dsp measure 1 3/4"-2" wide by 5 1/2".  Very simple card to make.

I didn't quite get the books lined up.  The stamp consists of three books and it wasn't as easy as I thought to add a second grouping of three.

I think I need to add one of those little bird to this card.

Aren't these birds cute?  I've had the stamp set for a while and just hadn't inked it up.  The littlest bird was cut out and popped with a dimensional.  I made a bunch of cards while I was at it and you will see more of those tomorrow.

These are two cards I made using the second format from Robin Armbrecht's video.  (You can see a link in yesterday's post.)  I like the layout but wasn't thrilled with this first one.  It just seemed to be lacking something.

On my second try, I used more of the Flower & Field dsp on my table and I decided to mat each piece.  I really like the idea better with matted pieces and  I think the papers on this one were a better choice.

Since this pack of dsp was still on my table, I decided to try another layout that was something I don't think I had done before.  Once again it was using scraps.  Two of the strips are from the package of dsp used yesterday but the other two are from 6" x 6" packs of dsp. This idea came from Robin Armbrecht and you can see her video here.  There is a second idea on the video and I will show two cards using that layout tomorrow.

A few days ago I watched a video from Karen Titus using 1" squares.  I thought it would be fun to pull out some scraps from one of my many retired dsp packs and give it a try.  You can find the measurements for the card here.   I have made another fun one that I will  post in a day or two.

Thank you for coming by today.

A couple of days ago Wanda Pettijohn made a card using a mask to add a great background for her Cheerful Daisies focal point.  I loved the idea so I came up with my own version of what she made.

Thank you for coming by today.

I intended to post this card on April 14, but just discovered it never made it past being a "draft".  This card was made using Soft Sea Foam card stock and Hello, Irresistible dsp.  Dies are from the stamp/die set.  The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set and cut with the coordinating punch.

Other than the die cut "THANKS" I used, this is like one I saw on Pinterest.

I'm still trying to use up designs from the Abstract Beauty pack.
Sometimes I wish Stampin' Up! made these available with only half of the sheets.

Thanks for coming by today.

You can see Judy May's (Just Judy Designs) card on Pinterest.  I made a couple of minor changes on mine but it used up the last piece of this design from the Abstract Beauty collection of dsp.  It's a fun layout for all kinds of designer papers.

Thank you for coming by today!

Thursday, April 11, 2024

I watched this video from Mary Knabe.  I prefer making cards that can stand up on their own and her version will not.  After experimenting a bit, I was able to come up with a card that is 4" x 4 1/4".  This is not my favorite size to make.  I had scraps of these pieces of Abstract Beauty left and really liked the combination so I went with them.  I had used a light weight white paper for the folds so I did add the entire piece to a backing of Mint Green card stock.  It still stands up pretty straight.

I will probably make another one at some point using different designer  paper but making it a standard A2 size.  Two more views below and an update to yesterday's card.

I punched a white label for the sentiment and stamped it.  Then I punched a second piece with the Mint Macaroon card stock and cut it in half horizontally to place behind the white label.  That was added to the card only on the far left hand side with dimensionals.  I realized that when the card is completely opened, it was obvious that the green backing had been split.  I punched another white piece and was able to cut it down to the appropriate size and add it to the back.  Much better.

I fixed it! (You have to note the comment I made when I posted this yesterday.)  I think I heard my mother say "Nice job".  I was actually able to remove the white strip, make a new one and add it on straight.

Another card using the "Abstract Beauty" retired dsp from Stampin'Up!  I also used the die cuts from the "Stylish Shapes".  The black die cut with the sentiment was added with dimensionals.  Although it looked right at the time, I didn't notice until just now that the white die cut is crooked!

Since it was glued down I'm unable to fix it unless I remove the entire piece and do it over......which I probably will do because I want it done right.  I'm smiling about my reaction.  The "Thinking of You" is for my mother who passed 3 years ago today and she was a perfectionist.  I can hear her whispering in my ear......fix it.

Thank you for coming by today!

I used "Abstract Beauty" retired dsp, the circle and bough punches for this card.

For the rest of the week I will be showing cards using papers from this pack.

Last Tuesday Rita Holmes showed how to make a "Circle Card Times Two".  When possible, I like to make something from her directions soon after.  I made these a day or so after.  I like the first one the best but if I make something again I would choose two papers that have more contrast.

I hope to make some cards today.  Last Friday my husband and I got the most recent Covid booster.  We have always gotten Moderna but all that was available Friday was the Pfizer vaccine.  I have always had reactions to the vaccines......chills, headache, joint aches. This time I had a fever.  I'm not sure if I'm still have side affects, but have had headache behind my eyes and chills now and then ever since.

In spite of that, I did watch the Iowa/South Carolina Women's Basketball Championship game yesterday.  Iowa wasn't able to pull this one off, but we're so proud of the Iowa team.  It's the Iowa girls who put Women's Basketball back in the news.  Even the South Carolina coach was so gracious to compliment Caitlin Clark who is all over the news.  But the entire team has so much talent!  It's reported that the tickets for the women's game was over twice as much as the tickets for the men!!!  Women rule!  lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEORGIA!

I hope that my friend, Georgia, is celebrating her birthday today!  The dsp is from the Abstract Beauty collection of 4" x 6" papers that have retired.

For this card I chose white card base with white embossed pieces for the focal point.

For the second card I decided to change it up and use a colored card stock for the base and use coordinating  dsp instead of embossing two white strips.

The measurements for this layout which I got from Susan Campfield.........

Card Base 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Layer 3" x 4 1/4" (white or colored depending on card base color
1 1/4" x 4" card stock to emboss (or dsp)
1/2" x 4" card stock to emboss (or dsp)
DSP 3/4" x 4" for middle strip
White for sentiment

As I continue my goal to use up more and more of my dsp, I saw a card on Pinterest using the Hello, Irresistable dsp.  She had used a fancier corner punch to do the corners on the left hand side.  All I had that would work was this one.  It's OK, but I definitely liked hers better.

I made a second card and just left the corners squared.

My card was inspired by a card on this blog.  The dsp is from the Hello, Irresistable dsp.

Using four panels of the Meandering Meadows dsp was a fun way to do this card.

Two more cards using the "All About Autumn" retired dsp. Thank you for coming by today!
