STAMPIN' UP! - Using 3 different designer series papers

The Creativity Cave is one of the YouTube posts I tend to check in on......partly because she is from my home state and she does come up with some fun ideas.  This one was a very simple idea but I liked it for featuring one of the papers from the Flowering Fields pack of 12 x 12 papers.  It made me very eager to see spring flowers.

I made three all together with different designs from the same package.  One was done on black card stock and was actually my favorite.

When my friends came to make the Valentine card, this is one of the fun cards we did after the Valentines were finished.  On the video, she added a piece of lace under her piece with the sentiment.  I didn't have any appropriate lace, but I did have a punch that gave a nice border.  We placed it down at the bottom so that the pretty edge would show up better.  The dsp is from the Daffodil Afternoon pack of 12 x 12 papers.

Below is the third one.  I used one of the sheets from a black and white paper pack and then colored the flowers the same color as the card stock  I used.

THINKING OF YOU

The idea for this one definitely came from another video.  So easy and so fun!  The flower petals are made using the Heart punch from Stampin' Up!  I punched 8 of them, folded them in half and then assembled them on a piece of white card stock.

Last Monday my two friends came so we could assemble the 150 Valentines that we do.  But before we started those I told them that we were going to make a "fun card" first.  They really liked this one.  (I'll post one of the Valentines soon.)

I thought maybe I'd like the card better if the "flower" was a little smaller so I used another heart punch that I had and made this one and used a different layout.   I like the smaller size much better and offered for my friends to borrow my punches to do either or both of the sizes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DAUGHTER

Today is the birthday of our oldest daughter, Jennifer.  She stopped by our house on Monday so rather than mail the card (and maybe get it to her late), we gave it to her in person.

The card was made using the Stampin' Up! Blackberry Beauty dsp.  These pictures were actually taken before I decided to make two "additions".  Because I didn't want to write on the inside and have the writing show up on the white portion when the card is closed, I added a strip of complimentary dsp to that white area.  That eliminated the chance of writing too far to the right. (See below)

The other addition was adding a white circle on foam dots over the blackberry strip.  I just thought it added a more "finished" look.  By adding the foam dots, it also added a little weight to the arm so that it would lay flat when closed.

STAMPIN' UP! - Blessings of Home stamp set

As you already know, I love to CASE cards I see from videos and/or blogs.  This is one of them.  Brandi Cox had a video making this card.  I love black and white so naturally I had to give it a try.

The background is made by stamping the larger design from the set around the edge of the paper....making your own designer paper.  I've done this before with another set and love it even though I don't think to use it very often.

STAMPIN' UP! - Ever Eden DSP

When I saw the Eden's Garden Bundle, I knew it was one I "had to have".  I love the Stampin' Up! papers and this is definitely one of my very favorites!  Tina Zinck had a really good video showing how to make this card.  I followed along step-by-step.  The only difficult part was stamping that pretty design and then having to fussy cut it out.  No die for that one!

When I was finished I thought might looked so much lighter than hers.  Well it was.  I had forgotten that there are two patterns in the package - one with the Soft Succulent and the other with the Evening Evergreen.  She had used the darker piece with her card.  Otherwise, mine is very similar to hers.

This is a great layout and could be used with lots of different designer papers.  Thanks for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Heart & Home DSP

A few weeks ago I saw this idea from Cindy Brumbaugh (a Stampin' Up Demstrator).  She called it "Stack, Cut and Shuffle".  You take four sheets of designer paper and cut each one the same using the pattern I have shown below.

Below you can see the four cards I made using papers from the Heart & Home designer series package.  As I was adding the sentiments to the front, I forgot to turn a couple of them so they would be horizontal as I Cindy did with hers.  It was a fun way to combine the papers and have four very quick cards.

STAMPIN' UP! - Blessings of Home

Brandy Cox has a video on you Tube using the NEW Blessing of Home stamp set and Heart & Home designer series paper.  It was such an easy card to make.  The stamp set reminds me a lot of the previous hand-penned set.  Beautiful pieces!

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!

CASING YOUTUBE VIDEOS - 2 CARDS

I guess my week kind of got away from me because I just discovered that there was no post yesterday but the one I had planned on for today is just another version of it.  So today you will see both.

The Stampin' Up! Swallowtail Butterfly stamp is just a gorgeous piece!  While scrolling through YouTube videos last week, I found on that used the stamp.  I loved the colors used and did my best to CASE the ones I saw making little changes. The Swallowtail Butterfly video is available if you'd like to see how it was done.

This is one stamp that I haven't used a lot but I don't think I'll be selling it any time soon.  Thank you for stopping by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Artistically Inked Die - 2 cards

Connie Stewart did cards like this.  She made the video to show how she adds adhesive to this type of delicate die cut.  I loved how she cut the piece in black and in white.  After that, she cut each one of them in half and added them to the opposite color of background. What a neat affect! This could be done in a variety of colors but the black and white always makes a strong statement.

As she did, I used the adhesive sheet on the back of the card stock before die cutting the pieces.  I like the adhesive sheets, but unlike the "Stick It" brand, it is only sticky on one side and I found it a little more difficult to work with.....not much but some.

I haven't completely finished these but want to add some black dots to the white portion after I decide on what sentient I want to use.  I could just add the dots and not do a sentiment.  I haven't decided which way to go yet.  I hope you give this method a try with some type of die that you have.

STAMPIN' UP! Dies and DSP

This is one of the card kits I had made up for my two friends to make.  As I was getting ready to post this card, I tried to find the die set that I used for the flower and greenery......no luck!  I have the stamp set and dies to go together but neither are where they are supposed to be!

The square piece is popped up on  foam squares and then a narrow piece of the checked paper is added to the card base giving the look that it is one continuous strip.

STAMPIN' UP! - Swallowtail Butterfly

With so many new things coming out all the time (that I think I have to have), I tend to neglect some of my retired stamps that are just too special to ignore.  I've been meaning for a long time to pull out the Swallowtail Butterfly.  I've seen it done several different ways, but I stumbled upon a Pinterest video for making this card.  Brandy Cox demonstrated the process in this video in 2013!  If you have this stamp, it is definitely worth watching.  The photo below shows how a second section of the wings is attached for dimension.

I love this card!  Thank you for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Blackberry Beauty DSP

This is called a "Joy Fold".  To see how this card is made you can go the blog page of Sue Prather to see a fuller picture of this type of card.  I saw one using this paper but now can't find it. I did use my own choice of designs to put on the very front.

It sounds like we're in for more snow today so I'm going to be busy making some card samples and kits for friends to make when they come next week.  Thank you for coming by today!

STAMPIN' UP! - Blackberry Beauty DSP

I've had this paper for a wile but not gotten into it like I wanted.  I saw on video using this fancy fold and the paper.....so I CASED it.  The panel on the front of mine is different because I didn't have the same pieces they had used.  These are some gold foil laser cut designs from a Stampin' Up! special set.

MORE GLITTER PAPER WITH TREES

Now this one made me happy!  Once again my post was inspired by one on Pinterest.  I made changes in mine to make it my own by adding a different sentiment which I thought seemed to fit the scene.  This is my favorite one I made using these  dies.

GLITTERY EVERGREEN TREES

I'm wanting to get to making other than holiday cards but I just can't seem to put my holiday things away yet.  In my effort to use some dies that haven't had any attention in a long time, I found a similar card on Pinterest but can't find it to show a link.  The one was I was horizontal with a different tree die used.  I've used this method with hearts and butterflies but never had done it with trees.  I like this one and think it will make a great card for Christmas 2022.

SNOWFLAKE SPLENDOR DSP

I changed up the horizontal card I saw on Pinterest (HERE) and simplified my design.  I had a Darice  embossing folder very similar to the one from Stampin' Up! and decided not to put a sentiment on the front.

LET IT SNOW

I'm really trying to use up some of the stash of retired Stampin' Up! papers.  SU keeps coming out with beautiful papers faster than I can get them used.  This is the card that inspired this one: HERE

Slowly but surely some of these papers are going to be gone.  Thank you for coming by today!

BOHO MEDLEY - Another attempt

It's not a typical layout or style that I usually make but I do like it better than the one I posted yesterday.  Thank you for coming by today!

BOHO MEDLEY

This is a card I made several weeks ago.  I can't find the card I was trying to CASE.  I just know that I liked the one I saw on Pinterest a lot better.  So sorry........today you are getting one of the cards that didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Thank you for coming by today!

Tuesday, January 4, 2022

While I had the Snowflake Splendor paper on my table, I made several cards.  I saw one similar to this HERE.  I used the basic idea for the trees but changed up the rest of my card.  The white trees that were cut out were then added back to the card with a narrow strip of a foam adhesive.  The dies I used are from Impression Obsession and had not been used very a very long time.  I really need to pull out more of the "hoard" of dies I have and actually use them.

SNOWY SCENE

Saturday when I was making this card, it was pretty much a snowy scene outside here.  I went to Pinterest.  You can see the card that inspired this one  HERE.

I had similar retired dies from Stampin' Up! and a cute Snowman Couple that I used instead.  I randomly stamped the snowflakes around the lower white piece and heat embossed with clear powder.  If I make another one, I won't add those embossed snowflakes.
